  • The challenges facing Senegal's education system
French President Emmanuel Macron is visiting Senegal where, together with his Senegalese counterpart Macky Sall, he'll co-chair the Global Partnership for Education conference. For donors, Senegal is a star pupil, as the West African country allocates 24% of its budget to education. Yet despite these efforts, Senegal's education system still faces major challenges such as poor learning conditions and strong regional disparities. Our correspondent reports. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Laura Burloux.

  • Video: Inside Austria's far-right fraternities
In Austria, the Conservatives recently formed a governing coalition with the far-right FPÖ party. Some FPÖ members are suspected of having joined Burschenschaften, fraternities accused of extremism and even links to Neo-Nazism. Earlier this week, Austria's chancellor said he would shut one of these fraternities following an outcry over revelations the group used a songbook that praised the Holocaust. Our correspondents Vianey Lorin and Anthony Mills got a rare glimpse into this secretive world. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Rebecca Martin and Laura Burloux.

  • Concern at resurgence of anti-Semitic crimes in Germany
On this year's Holocaust Remembrance Day, Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel warned of rising anti-Semitism. The number of anti-Semitic crimes is indeed on the rise in Germany. The vast majority of these incidents are attributed to far-right groups, but the ongoing tensions in the Middle East are also to blame for the higher numbers. Germany's Jewish community, which has been growing since the fall of the Berlin Wall, is increasingly worried. FRANCE 24's correspondents report from Berlin. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Gaelle Essoo and Laura Burloux.

  • Can the 'Great Green Wall' stop desertification in China?
China is one of the countries worst affected by desertification. As the Gobi Desert expands further south - engulfing an average of 3,000 square kilometres every year - entire communities are forced to relocate, becoming climate refugees. In a bid to combat this phenomenon, Chinese authorities have been erecting a so-called "Great Green Wall" of vegetation. In some areas, positive results are beginning to show. Our France 2 colleagues report, with FRANCE 24's Ellen Gainsford. A programme prepared by Gaëlle Essoo, Laura Burloux and Claire Pryde

They say they have no prospects, while local authorities insist the situation is improving. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Wassim Cornet and Claire Pryde.

  • Volunteers lead resistance to Belgium's hard line on migrants
Over the past few months, Belgium seems to have hardened its migration policy. In addition to a wave of arrests, the government sent a number of Sudanese migrants back home, where they were allegedly tortured. Pulling the strings is Theo Francken from the Flemish separatist NVA party. Francken, the Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, has as many admirers as detractors. Faced with his tough stance, volunteers are doing what they can to help migrants in Belgium. Our correspondents report. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Gaëlle Essoo and Jimena Morales-Velasco.
