Daniel H. Pink’s book The Power of Regret: How Looking Backward Moves Us Forward is the catalyst for the episodes for the rest of the week. After looking into social science for fifty years exploring regret. He found that regrets can be placed into four categories. The fourth and final category of regret is, Regrets in Connection.
If as a child you learned the four most common types of regret as a child, would you have made different choices? As adults, how do we understand the future? Regrets can change you. Although you may never know what would have happened or had been if a different choice had been made, you can learn from regrets.
Most relationships don’t end with a catastrophic issue. They simply seem to end. We can not have the Regret of Connection by simply reaching out to someone. Just making an effort to reconnect with an old friend, or relative.Remember, just showing up and reaching out is the first step to limiting Regrets in Connection.
