Chef Spike Mendelsohn is an internationally acclaimed chef, author, food policy advocate and restauranteur, including Good Stuff Eatery and his most recent venture, PLNT Burger. Spike has competed on numerous television cooking shows, including Top Chef and Iron Chef America. Spike is also very active in the D.C. community, serving as Chair of the Washington, D.C. "D.C. Food Policy Council" under Mayor Bowser. Spike also recently announced he is partnering with Van Metre to build and design homes throughout the DMV. Through PLNT Burger and his other ventures, Spike and his partners seek to "be the brand that allows you to have a little bit more diversity in your diet and not sacrifice deliciousness for the eating habits that you so much love."

Dr. Tracy Freeman is an integrative medical physician who focuses on achieving wellness through a combination of holistic and conventional medicine mythologies. Tracy has progressively reoriented her practice to include natural treatments and a search for the root cause of disease. She also happens to be BB&R’s Chief Medical Officer and has appeared on the podcast before. Listen as Dr. Freeman discusses a variety of issues, including how to manage the stress of COVID-19 and different ways to protect yourself from the virus. Dr. Freeman also takes on the issues of racial disparities in medicine and in our society at large, and we are so happy to have her on to help educate and enlighten everyone about the challenges people of color are facing today.

In January 2020, Jay Perman became the 5th Chancellor of the University System of Maryland after serving as President of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMBC) for nearly a decade. Dr. Perman is also a pediatric gastroenterologist and in 2001 was listed as one of the “Best Doctors in America”. As Chancellor, Dr. Perman has committed to advancing higher education affordability for all students in Maryland. He also plans to expand educational innovation, particularly in research, economic development, and community engagement. Above all, Dr. Permans main mission is to ensure that every person in Maryland who wants a college education is able to access it.
