I'm constantly seeing posts by other women encouraging collaboration over competition. While I understand the sentiment, it furthers the stereotype that women shouldn't be ambitious or assertive. There is plenty of opportunity for us to compete and collaborate. If you ever worry about being perceived as competitive or if you think competition is a dirty word, this episode is for you!
Things I'm covering in this episode:
• Why women should compete – including against other women
• The double standard some women are unintentionally perpetuating that's holding us all back
• When to compete and when to collaborate
• Why the real focus should be around women supporting other women as opposed to promoting the concept of "collaboration over competition"
• How embracing your competitive side helps ALL women win

If you're a woman or minority, you've probably been added to a pitch team at the last minute. Whether expressly stated, you know you've been brought in as the "diversity add." While you might be grateful for the opportunity, it's difficult to stand out and shine when you're given less time to prepare and not included in developing the initial strategy. In today's episode, I'm sharing my best tips on how to handle these situations.
Things you will learn in this episode:
• Practical tips for making the most of an opportunity even when you're a "diversity add"
• Ways to be proactive so you can gain pitch opportunities as an integral part of the team (rather than as a token member)
• How to communicate your expectations, and options to consider if you don't get what you need
• Why you need to be in control of your career and decide what's best for you
This episode was inspired by a listener question. You know who you are – thank you for reaching out! If you have a question or topic that you'd like me to consider for an upcoming episode, please email [email protected]!
We often talk about the fear of failure, but we rarely consider the fear of success, which can be just as paralyzing. When a podcast listener asked if I'd address this, I wanted to know more. She shared that she's been using the Life & Law PlannerTM and is now on track to reach her goals. Which is great, right? But the thought of reaching her goals is scaring her. She asked, "How do I deal with this fear?" I absolutely love this topic and can't wait to dig in!
Things you'll learn in this episode:
• Why we feel uncomfortable with too much happiness and success and start to assume something bad is about to happen
• What it means to hit an upper limit and the ways in which we self-sabotage our growth
• How success can create tension in our relationships or otherwise require us to show up in a new way
• What to do when you feel fear and anxiety related to your growth and success potential

I try to avoid topics related to parenting because I've chosen not to be a mother myself. But because I know many of you deal with juggling being a lawyer and parent, I jumped at the chance to interview my mastermind sister, Heather Chauvin. She's the host of the popular podcast, Mom Is In Control, and coaches women on how to manage a busy career and family. Heather is a mother of 3 boys, stage 4 cancer survivor, and successful entrepreneur. How does she do it all? By managing her energy and priorities. Listen to the episode to hear how you can, too.
Things you will learn in this episode:
• What it took for Heather to finally listen to her body and to stop putting herself last
• The ways she shifted her perspective on parenting after making this major realization
• How Heather decided to make herself a priority and then reverse-engineered the process to get there
• The changes she noticed were happening in her life and business when she started focusing on herself -- as opposed to always focusing on others
• Tips to help you embrace and balance ambition and motherhood
