Ep #158 - Today I experienced an emotional state and physical body shift when I introduced my self as a person in Addiction Recovery at a meeting where attendees traditionally say, "I am an Alcoholic."
We have discussed this many times on this show - Identity statements.
I am stupid, dumb, fat, ugly, mean, angry, a people pleaser, a narcissist, depressed, yada, yada, yada. Statements that start with, "I am" are linked to your identity. You are telling someone who you believe or think yourself to be or you are telling yourself who you are.
As always, I discuss this topic not to prove anyone else right or wrong - rather, We collectively seek to understand ourselves and others in a deeper and connective way.
Other people can say whatever they desire to say about themselves. I desire to open the conversation and delve deeper into the meanings of our words and how our mind attaches meaning to these sights, sounds, touching, tasting, and smelling we experience.
I have encouraged you to stand strong in your sobriety and recovery. Today I was blessed with the opportunity to walk the walk I have so often talked and talked.
Your voice in Your sobriety and recovery journey matters, first and foremost to yourself. Say whatever you desire to say about your journey. I hold no judgement. I, myself, have my way and I am happy to discuss it, while also not forcing it on you.
I went from the passenger of my life to the driver and today I was able to take the wheel and direct myself to my greater truth. I hope this behavior can inspire you to do the same - in whatever way that manifests for you.
It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN.
Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now.
Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you.
