Toxic Turf | Improvement Warrior Podcast Episode 61
This podcast and blog post come from another podcast that I was unaware of and am hoping to bring awareness to in regards to the toxic aspects of artificial turf and PFAS. As a former gym owner I once I moved into my studio in 2011 it was shortly thereafter that I purchased my artififical turf to put in the studio. Many hours spent in that gym for me and my clients and after closing the gym I moved some of the turf into my home garage and garage gym. I am currently in the process of throwing it out permanently.
This podcast comes from Green Street with Patti and Doug Wood and this one is called Toxic Turf with Barbara Laker and David Gambacorta
Introduction to Artificial Turf: Booming popularity in sports fields and playgrounds, despite hidden health concerns.
Understanding PFAS: Man-made chemicals used since the 1940s, present in many household products, now found in alarming levels in the environment and human bodies.
Health Risks: PFAS linked to cancers, liver damage, fertility issues, and more, with increased risk for athletes due to frequent exposure.
Environmental Impact: PFAS can contaminate soil and water, persisting in the environment for decades.
Personal Stories: Real-life examples of health issues from PFAS exposure on artificial turf.
Advocacy and Action: Importance of pushing for policies to limit PFAS, researching safer materials, and engaging with authorities for stricter regulations.
Staying Informed: Encouraging continuous education through newsletters, environmental updates, and community involvement.
Call to Action: Urging readers to advocate for safer alternatives and regulations to protect future generations.

Sunglasses Part 2: Unknown Death Causers Part 4 | Improvement Warrior Podcast Espisode 56
Highlights from this episode:
UV light is crucial for the body's production of beta endorphins, dopamine, melatonin, and melanin.
Sunglasses block UV light, disrupting the natural production of these vital chemicals and potentially compromising mood, sleep, and skin health.
The lives of George Michael and Michael Jackson illustrate the hidden costs of constantly wearing sunglasses.
Beta endorphins, referred to as "feel-good" hormones, are produced when UV light hits the eyes.
Sunglasses can block UV light, potentially leading to lower beta endorphin levels and dampened mood.
Sunglasses can block UV light, interfering with melanin production and making skin more vulnerable.
Persistent shielding from UV light could have contributed to mood disorders and disrupted sleep patterns.
Frequent use of sunglasses can disrupt the production of beta endorphins, dopamine, and melatonin.
Lack of melanin production increases the risk of skin conditions.
Blocking UV light with sunglasses can lead to reliance on artificial substances to achieve the same effects.
Understanding this connection can help address issues related to the opioid epidemic.
