July 26, 2021EP65 - Amy - 2 Pregnancies & Births, Vaginal Birth, Episiotomy, Birth Trauma, Hands-off Positive Vaginal Breech Birth Hospital Setting (Norway)In this next episode I chat to Amy who talks me through her two pregnancies and births. Amy's first experience wasn't what any women should be subjected too. She was unsupported not only through the birth of her little boy but also breastfeeding. Amy & her husband decided the time was right to start trying for another when their son Nikolai was 18 months old. Four months into her second pregnancy, Amy was flooded with anxiety as a result of her previous experience. Thankfully, she was supported by everyone she came in contact with from that point (bar one!). Her little girl moved into breech position at 38 weeks gestation. I will let you enjoy all the details, I wont share anymore but I will say, she found her voice. It was the most incredible, hands off, vaginal breech birth surrounded by a medical team who no doubt looked on in awe Enjoy!--------------------------------------------------------------This episode is brought to you by @mamashospitalbag an Irish brand providing luxury hospital bag bundles aswell as gift boxes to new and expectant mother's. June 21, 2021EP61 - Sinead - 2 Pregnancies & Births, Induction, Epidural, Homebirth, Breastfeeding JourneyIn this week's episode I chat to Sinead who talks me through her two pregnancies & births. Sinead was induced at 37 weeks as baby was measuring small. She made the decision to keep her circle small and told very few people she was going to have baby soon. She was supported by a great team of midwives who encouraged her to keep moving while in labour. She then shares her experience in the days following.Sinead decided she wanted a homebirth on her second pregnancy so contacted @homebirthmidwife_mullingar Angela in her third trimester who happened to be available. She chats about gravitating towards the bathroom to labour despite having a really beautiful setup in her sitting room. Sinead gave birth days after the HSE pulled birthing in the water. She had to leave the pool moments before baby arrived but at the time didn't mind. I love how she talks about the intensity of those moments baby is just about to come into the world. Lots of honesty shared by Sinead and laughter too---------------------------------------------------------------This week I want to mention @the_othersideofthedoorjournalput together by my friend, Sarah Tobin & Laura Doyle. May 31, 2021EP58 - Carolina - Two Pregnancies & Births, Precipitous Births, Mental & Physical RecoveryIn the episode I chat to Carolina who talks me through her two pregnancies and births. Carolina conceived four months after she and her husband made the decision was made to start a family. She felt fine throughout her first pregnancy but at 36 weeks she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. This pain was followed by vomiting and a very noticeable feeling of the babys head dropping after a visit to the toilet. Her baby was born hours later. From that initial pain to birth it was a mere three hours. Her second experience delivering her daughter was similar but even quicker at 1.5 hours. She talks me through her postpartum journey with both babies which was definitely impacted by the trauma her body experienced due to such quick births. She says she didn't feel that immediate surge of love for both babies but she remembers the very time she fell in love with her daughter at 11 weeks. She said a image of that moment with us, picture 4. So much in this episode and I know Carolinas story will resonate with so many of you------------------------------------------------------------------*This month the podcast is sponsored by @ergobabyuk who have just released their new Omni Breeze carrier.
