It may have been a hard couple weeks. It may have been a hard couple years. It may have been a tough decade–like the one that Marcus Aurelius had, complete with plagues and floods and betrayals and health issues and more. It may have been a hard life–like Epictetus’s. But you know what? At least you woke up above ground this morning. You’re alive. Not everyone is so lucky. In fact, it may have seemed like you yourself would not be so lucky.
