In today's show, we chat to Marina Billinghurst, the founder of Art of Marina, an art and fashion brand. Marina is an artist who paints for her own mental health, for therapy, and for creative expression. With over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry, Marina has an abundance of experience within the industry which she shares during our chat. Marina shares the importance of knowing your purpose and what really fuels your soul before taking the steps to move into your creative business full time, and how to trust your intuition and have the courage to step forth if it's something you're really committed to.
Marina shares how a car accident fast tracked her entrepreneurship journey, and how she looked at her life in a different light after the accident and how to trust the timing of your life.
Marina talks about how the heart of your business is you, your story, your purpose and your mission, and how important it is to show up as your most authentic self on social media, and in life and how it will positively impact your business.
During Marina's healing process from her accident, she shares openly how challenging it was when she didn't have her creative energy flowing through her veins everyday, and how meditation impacted her and inspired her to use art as a release ceremony to let go. She ended up writing a book and shares more about the journey of creating this book during our conversation.
Marina has built a really tight-knit Instagram community over the years and she shares how she has done this, and why she is trying to connect on a deeper level with her community outside of Instagram, and what platforms she is using to do this.
Marina does a lot of Instagram lives where she paints with her community in real-time, and she shares why going live gives your community the opportunity to see your most authentic self, and her advice for entrepreneurs looking to do the same.
When in person-markets were canceled at the beginning of the pandemic, Marina shares how she showed up on Instagram Live and how positively these online markets impacted her business.
Art of Marina is involved in a collaboration with Roche Wines, and Marina shares how this incredible opportunity opened up, how she has learnt to surrender to the creation process, and how it has impacted her business.
Marina shares how influencers have organically influenced her business and helped her gain more followers, and we chat about the do's and don'ts of influencer marketing.
Art of Marina has been featured on many media outlets including the Marilyn Dennis Show, and Marina shares why it's important to take any opportunity you get to share your brand and get in front of people.
Like all entrepreneurs, Marina has experienced her fair share of challenges throughout her entrepreneurial journey, and she shares her techniques which she practices daily to overcome feelings of doubt or imposter syndrome and navigate challenging times in the best way possible.
We talk about all of this and so much more!
