  • 054: There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather by Linda Mcgurk
Today’s episode is coming at a much needed time as the weather gets colder and the days get darker! This episode is inspired by the book “There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather” by Linda McGurk (a Scandinavian born mother). Throughout the book McGurk makes the argument for kids spending time outside- regardless of “bad” weather- and it gave us just the motivation we needed to shift our mindsets and get outside throughout the winter months. We hope it’s helpful for you and your family throughout this season as well! If you enjoyed this episode of Kindred Conversations please share with your friends by word of mouth and on social media! • 051: Continually Dating Your Spouse
Submission Episode! This episode is all about idea of continually “dating” your spouse. Finding a groove with your partner and fellow parent requires balance. At times, your romantic relationship can feel a bit more managerial than you imagined in the early days of your relationship. All marriages go through highs and lows but we believe it’s possible and much more enjoyable if you can find time to keep things fun and flirty. And although the emotional (and at times physical) connection may take a bit more effort than it did when you were dating, we believe it will also pay off in greater returns. You gave us your best tips for keeping those butterflies around and some of you favorite fun date ideas. • 047: Finding Contentment
Submission Episode! The fall season seems to bring with it a sense of self reflection. Instead of the constant (fun) chaos and noise of summer, we start to look inward to fill our cups. Into our homes and into our hearts. If we aren’t practiced in appreciating what is before us, this transition inward can feel a bit empty. Rather than chasing contentment with the next thing, the next phase, or the next finale, we would like to argue that contentment is often found by staying put and being present. And although this principle is an important lesson for life, it feels particularly poignant at this time. You gave us all the best tips on how you are finding contentment these days and we couldn’t be more grateful to share them with all our listeners! • 045: Creating a Family Culture- (Increasing Shared Meaning from Dr. John Gottman)

This episode was inspired by the first of four "pillars of shared meaning" from The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by Dr. John Gottman. The pillar is titled "rituals of connection" and is all about creating consistent opportunities that all parties depend on and enjoy to enhance your feeling of "togetherness".

We both took a moment to reflect on our personal family cultures and rituals and also the opportunities where we could enhance the feeling of connection or create a more meaningful tradition. We encourage everyone who listens to take a few minutes to make your own lists as well and to incorporate at least one new tradition or ritual into your family culture.
