Rachel Kapp, M.Ed., BCET, and Stephanie Pitts, M.Ed., BCET, welcome Dr. Nicole Michaeli, a pediatric psychologist who specializes in comprehensive psychoeducational assessments. In this robust conversation, Dr. Michaeli shares all the differences between an IEP and a private comprehensive evaluation. She shares how they are inherently different and have different goals, leading to different results and recommendations that are used differently. She also shares some really great guidelines for helping families decide whether or not they need to pursue an IEP or a comprehensive evaluation. She also shares really important information about IEEs.

Rachel Kapp, M.Ed., BCET, and Stephanie Pitts, M.Ed., BCET discuss a really critical event that can happen in the educational therapy process: a recalibration of learner-clinician expectation and relationship. In episode 219 (which was released August 2022) Rachel and Stephanie shared an episode called “Permission to Pivot”. In that episode they talked about permission to pivot with clients, within your business and permission to not have all the answers. This episode is an extension of that conversation, where they talk about how to know when it’s necessary to recalibrate things and share some tips on how to plan for these really important conversations.
