One of the toughest things do when you are starting out and even as you're growing your business, is figuring out and defining your true expertise.
To give you an example, when I started out I was attempting to position myself as an expert in helping you to use social media effectively to get more business.
I sure didn't feel like an 'expert' but I was certainly ahead of the curve compared to the rest of the entrepreneurs keen to learn from me.
The thing is, the minute you position yourself in your area of expertise as the 'go-to' person in your niche or industry, and the ONE person people always think about or refer to when it comes to the area you are knowledgeable in, your business is going to explode...if you leverage your expertise.

The theme on my podcast and blog for this month is all about how to gain visibility, build credibility and get more leads that convert into sales.
Do you want to grow your email list? Of course you do. That should be THE prime activity you focus on every day and week.
You can read all about why the money is in the list and why it's soooo important in this post.
Today we're going to focus on the best way to build your list on your website - by offering your website visitors a juicy lead magnet they just can't refuse.
A lead magnet is something of value that you offer in exchange for an email address. This could be an eBook, checklist, blueprint, audio, video or video series, email series or even a webinar training. The options are almost limitless.
But if you are getting hundreds of visitors on your website and you are not converting any of them, then your lead magnet is not working for you.
In this Fresh in Fifteen episode I share:
By the way I highly recommend LeadPages for creating amazing landing and lead pages plus LeadBoxes to optin on quickly and easily. So if you go ahead and take up one of their plans, forward your receipt to [email protected] and we will send you a BONUS short video training on how to set up a rocking LeadPage in less than 10 minutes.

Even though I ask you to focus on ONE major thing in your business - your mission, your expertise, you know the one thing, that doesn't mean we can't spin that ONE thing into multiple streams of income.
So how do you start and how do you choose what those revenue streams will be, you ask?
Almost 6.5 years ago I launched my blog and a whole year later figured out my first way to monetize my knowledge and my platform.
I looked at what I'd become known for and considered having some 'expertise' in and realized I could help entrepreneurs use social media to grow their business.
The very first thing I did was hold a Social Media Bootcamp, which was a physical workshop in Vancouver, Canada.
But I didn't stop there, I turned it into an online program and several other revenue generating offerings, and all this stemmed from an initial free blog post series.
You see, you have several options if you want to take existing content - in audio, written, video or workshop, and want to turn all that hard work and effort into products and services your customers will love.
It just takes understanding your talents and strengths and what people want to repurpose what you have into mo' money!
In this Fresh in Fifteen episode I share ways to create extra revenues by doing just that.

In business, everything always boils down to sales.
When you know how to get the exact kind of clients you desire, you literally have the ticket in your hand to a stream of income.
Unfortunately, it's not always that easy.
It’s easy to look at someone else’s business and think, “why don’t I have that?”
Most people start chasing what others have and competing with those with much more experience instead of focusing on their strengths and measuring themselves against their own progress.
You start focusing on tactics – because that’s what you think is working for others, only to realize it’s the foundational training that moves you further.
Today’s guest, Dov Gordon, calls this “marketing helium”, and is here to show you how to create a simple marketing message that gets the attention of the right customers for you.

If I received $10 for every time I got asked a question around pricing and how much to charge I'd be a freakin millionaire by now, like:
And there's a good reason this is such a common challenge for entrepreneurs - because no-one teaches you how to go about doing this - especially when you're starting out.
So how on earth are you to know what you should be charging your customers?
When you're starting out you simply have no real idea how to value what you do, or what price will be the sweetspot for your customers.
Or you get stuck looking at competitors and thinking you're charging too much or need to undercut them.
Well I'm here to rescue from all that guess work by providing you with 4 keys to pricing right and charging what you're worth.
I know this is a key area almost every entrepreneur gets stuck on because when I ran my Suitcase Entrepreneur Annual Survey it's the number 1 topic that you said was most important to learn more about - a whopping 68% of all respondents chose it.
That's also why my theme for January on this podcast and blog is monetizing yourself and how to generate extra revenue streams to build your business.

For most people, going up on stage is one of two things:
Nerve wracking, or exhilarating.
Whatever the case, I believe everyone has something in them to share with the world – whether it’s to inspire or to improve.
Today’s guest, my good friend Alexia Vernon, has created a business around helping others step into the spotlight, develop their core message, and spread it to the world.
You may remember her from episode 118 where we talked about stepping into the spotlight and developing your message.

This week I have wished for quite a lot and it seems to be all falling out of the sky for me and landing in my lap.
It all started after New Years where I was up visiting my dear friend Catherine Newton and we talked about our goals and I read my Painted Picture out loud to my entrepreneurial friends, which is a very clear 3 year vision, written in the present tense, of where you want your business and life to be.
As I shared it with them out loud, all of us realized that I was playing it small and that with the results I've achieved in the last year alone I needed to stretch myself more, up my revenue and fundraising goals and amp up my language used throughout my Painted Picture to reflect what I want to achieve in this lifetime.
Below is my current Painted Picture that's been viewed over 35,000 times and that still stands true, but that I'll be updating very soon!
After our discussion and my realization, I read a great article about "8 Things That Self-Made Billionaires Do Differently" and number 6 was about using storytelling to make your vision more compelling; not mission-speak - which was inspired by Steve Jobs.
It's all about setting your big vision and creating your Painted Picture, something I take my Freedom Plan members through as a core part of my program early on.
Without a vision, what do you really have in life? You need your why to inspire you every day, not only you but your tribe, customers and team.
In this Fresh in Fifteen episode, I talk about turning your vision into a detailed story and Painted Picture as well as how you can apply this billionaire success trait to yourself!

Creating epic blog posts, podcast episodes, and websites isn't the hard part of running an online business...
It's knowing what kind of content is going to be most useful and valuable to your audience.
And if anyone knows this better, it's Jill and Josh from Screw The 9 To 5.
Together, they've built a system around their Facebook Group that acts as the top part of their funnel.
While most people point everything back to their email list or website (which is still a piece of their funnel), they've grown a following in a place where their audience can interact, network, and grow as a unit.
Jill will make you look at community centers like Facebook Groups in a completely different light, and she shares the exact blueprint they're using right now with their audience.
