With the internet, we can reach out directly to our ideal clients, family, friends and community that supports us. But what if you have big dreams, working remotely from a small town and no one around you understands what you do?
I'm certain many entrepreneurs do.
Our podcast guest today is Laura Trotta. She struggle over this in her small town in outback South Australia.
This is her first podcast interview and we are going to talk about creating a location independent online business when you are stuck in your non-ideal location.
Laura’s journey is the epitome of what most of us will experience at one time or another on our way toward location and financial independence.
After I reflected on my conversation with Laura, there were a few BIG things that stuck out to me.
In fact, the hurdles that Laura has been able to overcome are the ones I hear most often when I’m chatting with entrepreneurs and soon-to-be Digital Nomads.
These are huge, and I want to make sure you avoid them so that you don’t fall into the many traps that lay between you having the kind of location-independent future you see in your mind.
Laura Trotta is one of Australia’s leading home sustainability experts. She spent 11 years working as an environmental engineer for large corporations. During that time she also completed her Master of Science Degree in Environmental Chemistry. She created her first online eco business, Sustainababy, in 2009.
She has won numerous regional and national awards for her fresh and inspiring take on living an ‘ecoceptional’ life.
With a regular segment on ABC Radio and with her work featured in publications like Nurture Parenting and My Child Magazine, she is an eco thought leader who’s not afraid to challenge the status quo.
In this podcast episode, Laura shares how she finds time for herself as a mom and entrepreneur and her version of freedom.

This is week is very special week for entrepreneurs because it's Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), 16-22 November.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is a celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
To celebrate being an entrepreneur - one of the most challenging yet rewarding roles you'll ever have, I asked several entrepreneurs to answer the following three questions, plus I reveal my own answers:
1) What being an entrepreneur means to you
2) Your top tip on how you stay motivated in times of doubt or fear
3) The best thing about being an entrepreneur
I know you'll find their insights not valuable and I'm sure they'll resonate with you.
Here are some of their answers :
Being an entrepreneur is the ultimate statement of freedom. Freedom and faith in oneself. If you have confidence in your abilities, then an entrepreneur can write their own ticket - Frank Bria
Being an entrepreneur is one of the three areas in my life that cause me to grow - the other two are being a husband and a father. - Dov Gordon
I ask myself why I got into business to begin with. I start with my why. I then let it percolate while I meditate. I then go back and focus on my why. - Justin Krane
And if you want to hear more listen in.
I'd love for YOU to answer one or all three yourself in the comments below - let's celebrate being entrepreneurs!

It's the last thing any one should ever experience - an attack from hackers.
Yet if you have any online presence in the form of a blog, website or let's face it, any tools, service or product you use that you can login to, you're at risk of being hacked.
And when it happens to you, like it did to me last week, it reminds you of all the things you 'should' have done to protect yourself and your online assets.
I learned a few lessons from this experience and have shared them in this 'slightly longer than 15 minutes' Fresh in Fifteen episode so you can prepare yourself in advance and not have to go through this yourself.
I think we all underestimate just how important it is to do regular backups of our websites, ensure we backups to our backups, updated plugins and versions of our software...the list goes on.
It also takes effort, it's not something you typically set and forget. So in this episode I share 3 things you can do immediately to make sure you won't get hacked!
In this Fresh in fifteen episode, I'll share 3 tips to secure and save your website from hackersand also I will be doing more live website reviews.
Here are3 more websites I chose to review as if I was a first time visitor:

Just listened to the website review podcast. I wanted you to know that it was helpful. You keep challenging us to get clear in how we communicate and what we communicate about our businesses. Keep sharing your knowledge, sipping the G and T and challenging!

If you read my Suitcase Entrepreneur survey results this year, for the question on 'What's the single biggest challenge you are facing in your business?' 4 of the top 10 responses were: Time, confidence, fear, and mindset.
Did you know that these 4 areas are HUGELY impacted by our brain?
This is backed up by what Karl Pilz learned at the Institute For Integrative Nutrition in NY, the largest nutrition school in the country - how our brains work and how it affects our energy, focus and productivity, that's what you'll also learn in this podcast.
Karl was leading a busy corporate life and traveling a lotfor work and it really started to show - he ballooned to 224lbs and was lethargic and unhappy.
He decided to go back to school to understand how our bodies work . Karl now helps others take a similar journey through his website NutritionToTheEdge.com and 'I’m Too Busy For Nutrition podcast'.
Leave a comment on one thing you are going to do and change in your nutrition to give you more focus, confidence and productivity

In last week's Fresh in Fifteen podcast "A Peek Into Your Website and the Power of a Call-to-Action" I asked people to leave a comment below the podcast if they wanted a review of their website from yours truly.
However my Disqus doesn't always allow comments with links to come through so I had several people contact me directly and provide me with their website.
I chose the following 3 websites and then did a live review looking at their websites for the first time - as if I was a first time visitor:

If you are following me on Periscope, Day 17 of my 30 day Periscope Challenge was all about how to make the most of a big media opportunity.
It was inspired by this interview I did with mediapreneur Gwen Elliot where talked about how to take advantage of any media opportunity that comes your way.
Gwen Elliot is a media strategist and a TV producer for The Naked Entrepreneur TV which airs on the Oprah Winfrey Network in Canada and the creator/host of a TV show in Toronto called 'Start Something Big!'.
She also helps entrepreneurs get their big break with media. She's helped entrepreneurs get featured on Forbes, LearnVest, Levo, Virgin, DailyWorth, national TV shows, morning shows, podcasts and local cable shows.
Gwen is also an enthusiastic event host and MC with an eclectic roster of positions: co-hosting Vancouver’s Spring Show, TEDxWomen in Toronto, Wealth and Real Estate events, and the ASPIRE awards for Young Professionals to name a few - so she knows her stuff!
In this episode, Gwen shares the 3 types of media you want to get, how to ace media interviews and how to turn your media coverage into paying customers.

If you're being honest with yourself right now, would you say your website has a powerfulandeffective call to action?
If your answer is YES, congrats on focusing on and achieving a veryimportant task that so many website owners overlook or can't seem to nail down.
If you answered no then you need to listen in to today's short podcast!
So what's a call to action? It's an enticing prompt that engages with your website visitors and prompts them to take immediate action.
This could be to download a book, take up a free consultation call, start a trial or grab a free thing.
I feel particularly passionate about this topic because, when done well it can lead to a big spike in subscribers to your list, new qualified leads and of course more sales.
This was one of the questions that came up in the October Coaching Call for the The Freedom Collective where I gave advice to one member who'd been struggling with this.
Today'sFresh in Fifteen episode is all about getting a peek into your website visitors minds with a cool free tool I recommend you use, and how to create an effective call to action!
Leave a comment with your URL in and I'll choose 3 websites to do a quick 'Down and Dirty' Website Review on in the next Fresh in Fifteen podcast.
