That idea of "putting on a mask" to hide your pain is something so many of us are familiar with, but when your job requires you to stand in front of a camera and perform at your best day in and day out, that term takes on a whole new meaning.
I'm really excited to share this conversation with all of you today. Today's guest, CTV's Ana Almeida, and I met on a Movember walk back in 2021, and after hearing about her experiences as a person living with Anxiety and how she's used her platform to diminish the stigma that still surrounds mental illness, I knew it was only a matter of time until we got an episode out together. Well, two years later, the time is NOW! During our chat, Ana talks about her relationship with herself and reflected on the impact that Anxiety and her mental health have had on her relationships with friends, family and partners. We talked about how she shared openly about her mental health struggles live on air during Bell Let's Talk Day in 2017 and the amazing impact she saw from the communities she serves after she did so. During a part of the show that will always stand out as being a particularly special moment to have shared, Ana, who immigrated as a youth, talks about her close relationship with her father and how she navigated learning about his cancer diagnosis during a very difficult time in her life.
This episode is funny, authentic, and vulnerable; it's everything you'd want from an episode of Life's a Wreck.

I imagine this episode to be best enjoyed while on a long walk, drive or curled up with a warm beverage. Today's conversation is one of authenticity, vulnerability, pain and beauty. Michael DeVenney is a friend of the show and an amazing advocate for the space where mental health and entrepreneurship intersect. I was blessed to be invited to Michael's beautiful home to share this conversation. I was introduced to Michael's work when we collaborated on a presentation for youth entrepreneurs, and after hearing his story, I knew I needed to get him on the pod. Michael's willingness to speak openly about a traumatic childhood that consisted of sexual violence, emotional suppression and bullying and how it's led to a lifelong journey of self-realization and healing is nothing short of inspirational. One of my favourite conversations to date. Kick back and relax because life is indeed a big ol wreck.

Conversations like the one you'll hear today are why I started the podcast. The opportunity to sit down and learn more about the people you know the most is such a gift. Today on the pod, I'm joined by my little sister, Caitlyn Moore, to talk about the transitional point she's at in her life as a recent graduate (almost, she just needs to throw the cap, so close enough). The conversation branched out into a look into her past year and the dynamics surrounding handling change, healing from trauma, grief and more. Kick back and relax and enjoy this week's chat.

Welcome back to Life's a Wreck (it's been a minute). I've been working on this podcast for the past five months and finally get to share it with all of you. It's been an experimental podcast for me as I look forward to what the future may hold for Life's a Wreck and let me promise you it has been a ton of fun piecing together. The entirety of this episode is inspired by the future. The future of me, of this pod and of the mental health care system in Canada. I was inspired to create this episode while listening to an episode of Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History. The episode was on experiments and specifically what magical experiments experts in various fields would do to vastly advance their understanding of their work. I wondered "huh what would this look like for mental health" and the concept for this pod and its new sound was born.
In this episode, you'll hear from:
The Scientific Director of the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (CAMH) Dr. Sean Hill, Canada's first EVER Federal Minister of Mental Health and Addiction The Honourable Dr. Carolyn Bennett, and the Executive Director of the Canadian Mental Health Association's Nova Scotia chapter Karn Nichols. Prominent voices in the mental health space, all coming together to discuss what the future of mental health looks like in Canada. Kick back and relax for a much-anticipated episode of Life's a Wreck.

Hey you, sitting there about to listen to a mental health podcast, do you know anything about stress? Not really? You are stressed you just don't get it? Me too. How about regret? All too familiar? Me too. Well, you're in luck because this week on the podcast I'm joined by Dr. Leslie Bosch to explore our relationships with stress and regret. Dr. Bosch is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach who received her training from the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona where she also earned a Ph.D. in Family Studies and Human Development. She knows a thing or two about a thing or two. Kick back, relax, and let's talk stress and regret.

I had a tough time coming up with a name for this episode because of all that Marty and I chatted about. However, I think what strikes me the most is that this man has gone through some really tough times and still continues to seek out life's challenges, face them head-on, and embodies the idea of embracing the wreck. So this truly is simply a lesson in living.
Martin Frenette is a fraud investigation, author, father, hockey coach, and role model for men everywhere simply in how he actively chooses to live. While Marty and I were in the Big Brother Canada house we talked about doing this episode so to finally have it come to life is really special. I hope you'll all enjoy listening to the episode as much as I enjoyed putting it together. Kick back, relax, and listen to a few New Brunswick boys (or boys at heart) talk about mental health.

WE'RE BAAAAACK BAAAABY! Welcome back to Life's a Wreck everyone! As many of you may know I recently participated in the most recent season of Big Brother Canada. It was an absolutely surreal experience to be a fan of the show and then actually get a chance to participate. In this episode, I break down my mental state leading up to the house, in the house and then after I was evicted. This experience is one I'll be processing for a while so this episode provides a sounding-off point, a benchmark for where I'm at in that process. Much love to all of you and I look forward to sharing more stories with you all. This is just the beginning. Amor Fati.

What's going on guys and welcome back to Life's a Wreck! Happy New Year and from everyone here at Life's a Wreck we hope it's better than the last two :D This week on the podcast I'm joined by my best friend and roommate Allister Nicholson to simply chat. Too often in the world of mental health, we get caught up in the big picture conversations but it's these kinds of conversations that can make the biggest impact. Showcasing two male best friends talking openly about their lives through the lens of mental health. This is Allister's third time on the pod and this time we went into it with no plan but ended up talking about perfectionism, creativity and finding a direction in life. It's a beautiful conversation, albeit a touch erratic, so kick back, relax and enjoy the first pod of 2022!
