  • Understanding PTSD and CPTSD ft. Ron Duffy and Destiny Audet

What's up guys and welcome back to your mom's favourite mental health podcast, Life's a Wreck. This week on the show we're talking about something that is long overdue. A look into the world of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The two individuals who are sharing their experience on the podcast today are people who just reached out to tell their stories via Instagram ( @lifesawreckpodcast) but who were so compelling that we couldn't not have them share their stories with you too. This episode is definitely a tough one in parts so a trigger warning in advance. kick back and relax and let's talk about all things trauma. As promised in the episode, if you're dealing with some of the abuse outlined in this episode below are some resources across Ontario and New Brunswick that might help you create a better environment both mentally and physically.

  • Coupla Sick Losers Ft. Michael Landsberg
Welcome back to the podcast guys, this week I'm really excited to be joined by one of Canada's biggest mental health advocates and someone that I've looked up to along my own mental health journey, Michael Landsberg. Michael, the host and producer of TSN's Off The Record, has been an official spokesperson for Bell Let's Talk Day since that initiative was launched. In 2016 Michael launched his own initiative, a charity, called SickNotWeak. SickNotWeak is dedicated to changing the way Canadians see mental illness. www.SickNotWeak.com gives a voice to celebrities and everyday folks to share their struggles and their views on mental health issues. He's a great guy with an impactful story and I'm stoked for you guys to give this one a listen. Kick back and relax, this one is a fun one.

  • Solitude and Doubt Ft. Canada's First Ever Woman to Play Men's University Tackle Football, Reina Iizuka
I'm a really lucky guy. I literally get to sit down and talk about mental health with some of the most interesting people I've ever met. I love every second of it and this week is no exception. Sometimes it can be hard standing out in a crowd, but especially when you're a woman and the crowd in question is a university football locker room. Reina Iizuka is the first woman to ever play men's tackle football in Canada at the university level and her story is one that needs to be heard more. From being called out by teammates to being featured on news outlets like TSN's, Reina's mental landscape has played a massive role in her life, especially over the past four years. In this episode, Reina and I talk about internal and external doubt, dealing with expectations, and also the self-imposed limitations we sometimes set for ourselves to avoid drawing attention away from things we care about. It's a great interview with an even better person, so kick back and relax because, at the end of the day, we're all just a bunch of wrecks.

  • Mapping Our Brains and the Future of Mental Health Care Ft. Dr. Sean Hill
This week on the podcast I'm joined by one of the foremost scientists in the world of mental health; Dr. Sean Hill. Dr. Hill is the Director of the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics, Senior Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and a Professor at the University of Toronto (he's pretty smart idk if you got that yet). In this episode, Dr. Hill and I talk all about his work and how it's changing the future of mental health care, and to be honest, at times it sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi flick. Kick back, relax, and take some notes because this week we're talking about everything from artificial intelligence to sleep and even Italian food.

A little wholesome content to kick off your weekend! This week on the podcast I'm talking with my good friend Gina Amin about her fitness journey and the mindset that lead her to become the happiest and healthiest version of herself. She's a walking testimony to the power of self-discipline and how practicing healthy habits can lead to a healthier lifestyle. Kick back and relax because this week is all about self-love, self-acceptance, and getting ripped.

  • From Troubled Boys to Better Men Ft. Andrew Reiner
This week on the podcast I'm absolutely stoked to share our little virtual stage with one of my favourite authors, Andrew Reiner. Andrew is the author of 'Better Boys Better Men" which details the current state of masculinity and how we as a culture treat boys and men. It was a fantastic read and to pick Andrew's brain was truly an honour. Kick back and relax because this one is about as ferda as they get.

  • The Power in Sharing your Experiences as a Man Ft: Nick Bingaman and Lawson MacDougall from TAD Voices
This week on the pod I'm joined by a couple of fellow mental health podcasters Nick and Lawson from TAD Voices, to talk about the power that exists in sharing what you're going through as a man. All three of us have gone through a similar phase of not understanding how to go about talking about our mental health and then finding an outlet through podcasting and sharing our personal experiences with our audiences. In back-to-back weeks I'm so stoked to be joined by guys within the mental health space to just shoot the sh*t about all things mental health. Kick back and relax and listen to a couple of dudes just being guys.

  • How Culture Plays a Role in Mental Health Stigma FT. The Middle East's MH Ambassador: Ally Salama
This week on the podcast I'm sitting down with my fellow Ryerson University alumni and the Middle East's own Mental Health Ambassador Ally Salama to talk about mental health representations in minority communities and how mental health is perceived in different cultures from around the globe but particularly in the Middle East. This is a great conversation where Ally and I get into all kind of interesting topics and really talk about the importance of inspiring the next generation to take their mental health seriously. He's an incredible speaker and there are so many gems in this episode so kick back, relax, and listen to two guys talk about the ups, the downs, and just the overall wreck that life can be.

  • ED's and Gender Talk with Across the Pond Legend Bobby Temps
This is a super special episode for me because I got to sit down with one of the first mental health podcasters I ever listened to, the amazing Bobby Temps from "Mental - The Podcast to Destigmatize Mental Health." Bobby and I had a great conversation that hasn't been highlighted on this podcasts before about body image, eating disorders and the biases that exist within gender in the mental health space. It was a phenomenal conversation so kick back and listen to just a couple of guys from opposite sides of the pond shoot the breeze about mental health. Cheers!
