🔸 Something new! Jo says check-ins aren’t happening for her. I suggest we kinda do one together, and ask her to lead. It seems to work. This is self leadership.
🔸 Topic: Sex. Language: NSFW. We meet at least 5 parts in this call. Robert is big into IFS. We have a chatty “about IFS “ rapport , not as structured as most sessions
🔹 Part (Location, Fear, Rather be doing, Age, Needs):
🎓 What I'd like to do differently:
🔸 An 'emergency' call. Casey is so distraught, slept for one hour last night. Seems past parts work opened the lid, revealing more unhappy parts.
🔸 Molly's first time as practitioner! And I brought a not-easy one to her. We do a debrief at the end.
🔸 Clearly Molly does her homework! We dive in with the part that slices in w guilt whenever she’s having fun.
- core. Belly, right down the middle
- fear of losing the memories, losing lessons, disrespecting family struggle
- rather be honoring it all, the good and bad
- age: 20 years older than molly
- needs to journal. To write a letter to her, to memorialize
🔸 Jo gets the know a numbing part, and unburdens the depressed part it protects.
🔸 With an IFS therapist for months, but no exile unburdening… we talk to the part that is angry at his therapist. Most callers don’t have a baseline of work with other IFS practitioners to compare. I'm excited to get feedback!
🔸 The tired part relaxes, the “you fuck up part” shows up. We get to an exile and do some unburdening.
🔹 Part (Location, Fear, Rather be doing, Age, Needs):
- behind eyes, throat, cheat
- afraid it won’t be safe, will be thought of as stupid
- relaxing by the pool, taking in the details of the flowers.
- thinks shes 28.
we then go to exile - a boy, 6 or 8, and maybe a teen... and he has a companion too
🎓 What I'd like to do differently:
Judging by her affect, I think a scared part kept showing. I wish I stopped and addressed it. Although, sometimes I do that and go too far off the rails so. What do you think?
🔸 Richard knows this part, and has experience with somatic therapy, but not working with an IFS practitioner. (Though we did a session a few weeks prior via text!). This is a textbook convo, just meaning I don’t deviate from the script, and he responds in the most typical way. And that’s not to take away from the insight or depth, I think it added to it.
- upper mid back
- afraid of dirty looks, of not being enough, not whole, not bein loved
- rather be researching, discerning the outside world, enjoying
- Thinks he’s 2 or 3
- love and acceptance
🔸 Molly's moving quickly, consistently meeting and working with parts on her own.
