Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder... well, what can I say? it's hurtful, painful, stressful, difficult for those you love, very hard to deal with even at the best of times and down right unfair and cruel at its worst! Everyone who has CPTSD is unique but we all suffer from the same pain and fear and horror from our past, the trauma and flashbacks... the triggers and being blended with our Child parts... the struggles we have each and every day in our lives as we try to survive and push forward. It sucks right? listen to this episode and hear about what I went through and how I try to deal with it in my own life. We aren't alone in our fight to heal and feel more alive!
This one really hits home for me as someone who has ADHD, memory issues, short-term memory loss, forgetting often during the day has become very difficult to make life functional and stress free. I used to think that I really was having issues with memory but then when I realized that I had ADHD it all made sense! I know many of you out there have issues with remembering important things in your life, so making external reminders, phone reminders and calendar events are very big for helping us with this disability. Please listen to this episode and learn just how difficult forgetting things can be in life.
To make progress when you are healing from CTPSD one very important step is required, to gain the trust from your parts! Building new neurological pathways in your brain to establish communication, to start the process of healing and earning the trust from those part that became to be in order to protect you and survive the trauma you repeatedly experienced in your past. with Structural Dissociation Theory, child parts are to be treated with compassion, love and parented just as though they were your actual children who are real. 4 Step process is the way to go about gaining trust but it is not easy and can take a lot of time and repetitive processing sessions both with your therapist and on your own. Please listen to this new episode and learn about how the 4 step process will help you gain the trust you need from your parts in order to begin the healing process in CPTSD.
Everyone in their life will get rejected at some point, work, relationships, friends, trying new things etc. Those with RSD however are experiencing and feeling much more than what a Neurotypical will experience when they are dealing with rejection! It is painful, extremely stressful and produces anxiety nearly all the time. It is a neurological condition that can be helped with medication but the time it takes to be diagnosed and learn how to help ourselves deal with rejection is still very difficult. Listen to this episode on RSD.
When you are experiencing a flashback of a traumatic event, often it can be too much to handle in the moment, overwhelming you to the point where your mind dissociates. You feel numb, perhaps and out of body experience, zoned out and not being aware of anything going on around you and it can be potentially dangerous for you and others. Often those who suffer from CPTSD will dissociate from reality in order to attempt to gain relief from the pain and trauma of your past and I will discuss what Dissociation is, why it happens and how you or your loved ones can help you when it occurs.
This is the most common secondary diagnosed comorbidity for those who suffer from ADHD. It is very debilitating for people because you deal with it nearly all the time and it feels very hard to contribute to life when Anxiety hits us. Please listen to my episode and lets all heal together.
Thank you to all who took the time to listen to my podcast and hear what I have to say about having ADHD and CPTSD and the interesting and often stressful times that I have living with these disabilities. You all mean a great deal to me and I hope that we'll all be here when I reach my next goal!
This isn't exactly a typical episode. the topic I initially had in mind was something very different but due to my own real actual trigger that occurred before I recorded this episode I felt that I need to reach out to my listeners and express a very real and very uncomfortable, overwhelming trigger and express my thoughts and feelings and concerns to you! Warning - may be triggering for those who suffer from CTPSD
