Michelle Cordeiro Grant is the founder and CEO of Lively, a lingerie and swimwear company. She studied finance but decided not to pursue it and joined the lingerie department of the Federated Merchandising Group. After discovering her love for the field, she became Director/Senior Merchant for Victoria’s Secret and, after deciding she didn’t want to have to choose between family and work, eventually went on to found Lively. She sold the company in 2019 but has kept her position as CEO. Today, Lively is a worldwide lingerie brand.

Michelle joins us today to talk about the experience of launching and running Lively, from coming up with the idea to selling the comapny. She talks about what to keep in mind when approaching investors and the importance of following the path that appears before you. She shares her experience of selling Lively and offers tips for people taking the same step. She discusses the importance of her personal life and how she makes sure her work life doesn’t drown it out. She talks about being honest about your limits and being comfortable with saying no when you need to. She also shares lessons she’s learned about taking mistakes and the unexpected in stride instead of stressing needlessly about them.
