He offers a compelling account of the history of Jewish books in Europe, the place of Jewish books and culture in Nazi ideology and Jewish efforts to save these books during the Holocaust and rescue and redistribute them after the war. This book is a highly readable contribution, which should bring this little known history to a wide audience.
