Next Level Executive

This episode is based on current events of the past two weeks. As business leaders and business owners, you need to embrace the challenges ahead and communicate clearly with your team. I'll share my own personal example of leading a team in the NY/NJ market during what became the Global Financial Crisis. None of us know how this is going to play out, but it's up to each of us to create some level of certainty for our teams.

So many of you in this audience enter the world of business entrepreneurship through the world of medicine first. While this is completely understandable, I think too many lose sight of the fact that being an entrepreneur is actually a choice we make. Choosing to be an entrepreneur carries with it a tremendous weight in competitive markets, and healthcare services is definitely one. That being said, there are plenty of alternatives - many of which will immediately compromise the freedoms you've mostly forgotten that you have. I hope this episode is a "re-grounding" of sorts and a dose of optimism during your times of trial.

We're all hopefully evolving both as entrepreneurs and as leaders, so it's important to understand what makes us effective at both. His central point is that the interconnectedness of life only makes sense in the rearview mirror, but it should equally give us confidence as we navigate the uncertainty that lies ahead. I'm constantly amazed when I ask someone about their growth strategy that they so frequently reply with the refrain, "...and I want to sell my business for $10 Million."
