Parenting Vs Coaching
Maybe you remember being a kid and being cut from team or perhaps your own kid is struggling with the same reality now. This week, our discussion with Olympian shot-putter, Adam Nelson begins with precisely that theme. Did his baseball coach’s candor cause Adam to give up athletics or was it the honesty he needed to fuel a different fire? His response was epic: An Olympic and World gold medal.
Recently there has been a fair amount of discussion on the show about how to navigate kids through the generalization/specialization dilemma. Nelson provides anecdotes from his upbringing which he feels led him to be successful. He also levels with listeners about being quite possibly the most frustrated spectator of children’s soccer of all time.
Not only are we grateful to have Adam Nelson back on the program but we are pumped to announce that he will be speaking at the 2017 Power Athlete Symposium in Austin, Texas. Stay tuned in to hear about his appearance and more symposium goodies.
EMPOWER YOUR PERFORMANCE.
if you haven’t already looked up TheD10.com, do it. I did not even know this competition existed but it looks badass. And the cause is close to our heart because it’s all to benefit research for pediatric cancer. If you want to find out more about Adam Nelson, follow him on IG @AdamNelson5376.
Speaking of great causes. Cancel all your plans for December 8-10 unless those plans were to attend the Power Athlete Symposium. Then rebook those plans and we will see you there. If you don’t know what the symposium is, I’ll try and sum it up in a few words. Empowering, educational, Huey Lewis and the News, hangover, Huey Lewis and the News, and Epic.
