  • Be Patient Faster - Dr. Rob Bell - 762

Dr. Rob Bell is an expert in mental toughness. He's written 8 books around sport psychology and mental toughness, coached top level athletes and teams and been invited to speak to companies and organisations on how to harness human potential by developing mental toughness.

We talk today about some of Dr. Bell's personal challenges and learnings over the past few years, including navigating health and relationship difficulties and the intricacies of business ups and downs - sure is lucky he's got some mental toughness in his toolkit!

But where amidst a conversation on mental toughness could there possibly be room for the concept of patience? Rob is much like me... and I can't wait to be patient - which just so happens to be the title of his latest book... and so in today's chat we delve into the handling of adversity, the significance of time, and finding a balance between urgency and patience. We touch on the importance of adapting to life's changes, finding contentment in the process, and the pitfalls of all-or-nothing thinking. (Oh yeah, I've been guilty of that one from time to time).

I bet you can't wait to wrap your ears around this chat!

  • Change. The Silent Evolution | Bobby Cappuccio - 761

You do the work, and do the work, and do the work. Amidst it all it feels like nothing's even moving, and yet it what seems like a single moment - you change.

Bobby is back riffing about life with me and we're talking about the concept of learning, changing and evolving. The ongoing process that can feel like everything and nothing. The getting lost in the effort rather than surrendering to the process.

And, what does it mean to do the basics savagely well? I guess you'll have to tune in and find out for yourself!

  • Why Women Don't Like 'Nice Guys' & How To Change It | Dr. Robert Glover - 760

Why aren't women attracted to 'nice guys'? And, if we aren't attracted to 'nice guys' does that mean we're only attracted to the jerks? For many of us it sure can feel that way, huh?

Dr. Robert Glover is a marriage and family therapist, coach, educator and author of the book No More Mr. Nice Guy. Dr. Glover enlightens me on how to recognise and understand the fundamental flaw in the Nice Guy philosophy. Being a 'Nice Guy' sure sounds like a desirable attribute. But when we examine what it actually means and the gaping holes it leaves in our relationships, suddenly it's clear that the opposite of a nice guy isn't a jerk. And a 'Nice Guy' isn't necessarily all that nice.

This is a great conversation around our relationship expectations and dynamics and one that just might get you thinking.

  • Courage or Stupidity? | Kerryn Vaughan - 759

"Courage is knowing that it might hurt and doing it anyway. Stupidity is the same thing, and that's why life is hard." That's a quote I read recently that simultaneously made me laugh and made me nod my head in agreement.

Today I'm chatting with the effervescent Kerryn Vaughan from the 'Get Off The Bench' podcast and we're talking all things embracing fear in the name of personal and professional growth. Now, Kerryn is someone I look up to because her energy and attitude is like plugging yourself into a high voltage power source. She herself has gotten off the bench and created a business and brand based around her passion, vision and what she loves most, and today amongst the accolades I'm throwing her way I'm also quizzing Kez on how she created and developed her business and brand intertwined with authenticity, vulnerability and personality.

If you're interested in personal growth, overcoming challenges, and living life YOUR way, you're going to love chatting with Kerryn!

  • The Courage to be Scared | Craig Harper - 758

Have you ever found yourself in a sea of brave souls, feeling alone as you dodge the things that scare you? You're sure not alone in this. Fear is all part of the contract for us humans. Facing our fears isn't just inevitable, it's often the gateway to epic rewards. I once believed that courage meant confronting the things that scared others, not myself. Eventually, I embraced actual courage by leaning into my own fears, rather than telling myself and others stories about them. This led to growth, resilience, and, surprisingly, a fair bit of joy! In this ep, Harps and I discuss the advantages of embracing fear instead of running from it. Don't be scared, have a listen.

  • How Emotions & Perceptions Impact Our Health | Dr. Helena Popovic - 757

How much thought do we give the intricate relationship that exists between our beliefs, our emotions, and our physical health? Dr. Helena Popovic is not only a dynamo of a human, but she is also a renowned expert in brain plasticity and the mind-body connection.

Boasting the mantra our decisions are more powerful than our DNA. We talk about some pretty fascinating concepts around health, beliefs & longevity today as we get a grasp on how our mental and emotional states directly influence our biological wellbeing.

Dr. Popovic brings a unique perspective, blending personal experiences like overcoming an eating disorder with her extensive knowledge around the science of health and longevity.

We discuss the undeniable role of a strong doctor-patient relationship in relation to how it impacts medical outcomes and how emotional health, including the importance of expressing and understanding (feeling) our feelings, impacts our physical well-being and our immune system.

For me this conversation serves as a powerful reminder of what truly matters in achieving optimal health and happiness.

  • Breathwork for Optimal Health & Athletic Performance | Patrick McKeown - 756

Can simply learning to breathing correctly really improve our health, weight management, mental state and athletic prowess? According to Patrick McKeown, it's a massive YES. And given the evidence, I'm convinced it's a practice we can't afford to ignore.

In this ep I've invited back the much loved and world recognised breathing expert Patrick McKeown to discuss the significance of correct breathing techniques in various aspects of health and athletic performance.

I spoke to Patrick twice back in 2021, but 2.5 years later here I am blown away by some recent results I've experienced in relation to my own training and athletic performance in relation to nasal breathing.

The conversation also touches on the broader implications of breathing on mental health and physical well-being. McKeown highlights the importance of diaphragmatic strength not just in physical activities but also in mental resilience, especially in competitive environments like boxing. They further discuss the role of proper breathing in managing weight, sleep apnea, and overall health.

This podcast cuts through some of the breathing misinformation out there and offers an informed and insightful exploration of the impact of breathing techniques on physical performance, mental health, and general well-being.

For a resource that's free, something we do every moment of our lives, and that has such significant impact on so many facets of life, can we afford to stay ignorant?

  • The Secret to 100: Living Long, Happy & Healthy | Tiff Cook - 755

The title is more of a curiosity than an answer... But then, if you're a RWTP listener you'll know that that's my philosophy around most things. My pop (grandfather) just turned 100 years old, making the elite less than 1% of humans to become a centenarian (and of the 1%, less than 15% of which are male). It got me reflecting on his life, his lifestyle and his demeanor and pondering what really is the secret to a long, healthy and happy life. Because whatever it is, he's nailing it!

  • Amplifying Success: The Power of Belief | Darren Mitchell - 754

In any endeavor, the focus often lies on the technicalities... the honing techniques, mastering skills, or adhering to established processes. These elements sure build competency, but there's a pivotal factor that frequently gets sidelined: the power of belief. Tapping into our own belief, or drawing strength from the belief others place in us, can significantly impact our efforts and lead to exceptional outcomes. Perhaps the true strength lies in understanding that our beliefs are a matter of choice. In today’s episode which is a co-share of a conversation held on Darren's podcast, The Exceptional Sales Leader, Darren and I delve into our ideas around the world of beliefs and their impact.

  • Energy, Intuition & Healing | Bronte May - 753

Bronte is a naturopath with a passion for thyroid health from a whole-self healing approach. She knows firsthand the multi-layered journey to heal from a thyroid autoimmune condition, having personally dealt with and healed from Graves’ disease. She understands how healing the emotional aspects of 'dis-ease' can unlock deeper healing, and that mindset coaching is a powerful key that also supports this often challenging journey.

In our chat, we dive less into the specifics of her naturopathic practice and more into the intriguing concept of energy and its impact on our lives. We explore themes like intuition, connection to the land, the 'universe', or whatever might be one's personal interpretation of these concepts. While some might consider these topics to edge towards the unconventional or 'woowoo', there's an undeniable charm to them that I, and evidently many of you, find quite intriguing.
