I'm back with the last few mindset traps of the Empty Nest Straddle. In this episode, I'm tackling the trap of "Overgeneralization", where our minds draw broad, and often incorrect or at least incomplete, conclusions about the circumstances of our lives. This trap is insidious because we often have no idea we're doing it. In fact, we often think that what we observe is simply the "truth". But when we don't observe and manage this aspect of our minds, it can have disastrous consequences for our relationships (particularly with our teens) and in the way we feel about and show up in our lives. Another new year is upon us.  This year, I want to invite you to drop the same-old New Year's resolutions. Whatever your goals - whether it be to improve your relationship with your teens, find new purpose, drop bad habits, or just feel better - it's not about what you do, it's about who you decide to become. As you enter into 2024, you have the opportunity to live into that version of yourself who is capable of looking at this next chapter of your life with excitement. How many times have you told your kids that they can be anything they want in life? When did we forget that this sentiment applies to us as well? Happy New Year, my friends.

The holidays bring the possibility of happiness and joy as we spend time with the people we love. For us moms, the holidays also seem to bring feelings of overwhelm, resentment and disappointment.
