Interestingly, "sex" means something different to everyone. From a sacred energy exchange vital to life to wonder, creativity, and lust all bundled in one. One interviewee emphasizes that sex transcends the physical—it's about identity, intimacy, and respectful connection, always with consent.
Join me as we dive deep into what "sex" means through a rich tapestry of perspectives.
Check out this episode where we discuss:
- The expanded definitions of sex beyond the physical act
- The importance of consent and respect in sexual encounters
- How pleasure, creativity, and curiosity define sex for different individuals

In this episode, I delve into non-monogamy, a topic stirring a lot of curiosity, especially among those in long-term relationships. I discuss what non-monogamy is, various forms it can take, like swinging and polyamory, and how it might either revitalize or challenge your relationship. This isn't an endorsement of any lifestyle but rather an exploration of different relationship paradigms. If you’re curious and have questions, head over to my website and use the form to ask me anonymously.
Our discussion also ventures into the historical context of monogamy, the evolving roles within relationships, and the importance of trust and communication when considering non-monogamy. Dirty talk in the bedroom might not be everyone's cup of tea, yet it's a powerful tool for staying present during sex. Women tend to get lost in their thoughts, worrying about whether their partner is getting bored or if they're taking too long to reach orgasm, which can detract from the pleasure of the experience.
The same goes for men, particularly those dealing with erectile dysfunction, who might find their performance anxiety worsened by overthinking. In a previous episode, I discussed the importance of pleasure and touch, in this episode, I'm suggesting we engage our minds differently through dirty talk.
It doesn't have to be offensive or crass; it can be sweet and subtle, starting with something as simple as sexting to build anticipation for your next intimate moment together.

I had the great pleasure of welcoming Dr. Bat Sheva Marcus, certified sex therapist, and the author of "Satisfaction Guaranteed: How to Have the Sex You've Always Wanted," to the show. Bat Sheva has dedicated her career to empowering women to find pleasure in their bodies and spirit by combining medical and psychological approaches to women's sexual health. Having met Bat Sheva years ago when she was my doctor, I credit her with starting me on my journey to openly discuss sexuality, a topic often shrouded in silence.
Our conversation delved into the complexities of maintaining a healthy sex life, especially as we age and navigate the inevitable changes that come with long-term relationships. Batsheva emphasized the importance of debunking myths around sex, advocating for a proactive approach to addressing sexual issues, rather than succumbing to the hopelessness that can arise when sex and intimacy issues remain unaddressed.
We discussed how societal expectations and personal experiences shape our understanding of sex, highlighting the need for communication and effort in rekindling intimacy. Addressing sexual challenges requires acknowledging that sex and relationship dynamics can evolve, emphasizing that solutions are often within reach with the right guidance and willingness to explore. Through our discussion, it became clear that addressing sexual health is not just about enhancing personal relationships but also about fostering a deeper sense of self-awareness and satisfaction.
