As a celebration of Travel Agents Day - I'm excited to release a coaching call I recently had with Carol Szuky.
In this episode we worked through what it meant to "know enough" to be "well traveled" and how both are truly just a state of mind.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts and connect with you, head over to Instagram and send me a direct message to continue the conversation. And if you loved this episode take time to rate and review it.
Ever since we were in elementary school, we've spent so much time learning about other people but so little time learning about the most important person in our life and our business - ourselves.
When you take time to study yourself and understand who you are and what you really want - life and work can become richer, easier and more fulfilling.
Does Your Personality Play a Role in How You Sell?
Absolutely! It also plays a role in how your clients buy. There is not a one size fits all application when it comes to selling and buying. The better you understand your personality, the better equipped you will be to appreciate the motives to how you approach your clients. In order to effectively close the sale, you need to know their personality. The better you understand their personality the more you can make the sale about building a relationship rather than a transaction. Relationship base selling is about the client - Transaction based sales are based about the seller, which do you want to have?
Bring Intentionality To What You're Doing
When you understand the motives you're able to me more focused and be more aware of the shadows that will keep you stuck in the "busy" work. If you don't know what the motives are, you will be very busy but productive and profitable often is not a part of that same conversation.

What if - just for a moment you considered that your clients aren't paying just for a trip, but rather "they're paying you to recommend, recognize and have their best interests at heart". This isn't something that stops when they hand over the money - in fact in travel, this continues all the way through the moment they get home and get to tell you how amazing their trip is.
Your clients are coming to YOU to solve their problems
When you solve peoples problems, the value is priceless. And by charging fees, not only can you serve your clients better - you will be able to take back the freedom, flexibility and time with your family because you're no longer putting endless clients through the books for pennies on the dollar.
Fees are there to help you do your job better. To be able to service the individual clients better - because you will have the time. When you have the confidence to charge fees - and know your value, it allows you to focus adding value.
Now Is The Best Time To Change Your Policies
If you've never charged fees before - this is a great time to start. With the difficulties many travelers have faced - cancellations, reschedules, delays and all of the gobbly goop of restrictions and rules, people are looking for an expert who can explain this all to them.
Yesterdays price has a best before date and tomorrows price doesn't yet exist
When you give your clients a heads up - you give them a choice. Pricing is a choice and an opportunity for your clients to decide if they see value in what you offer. If you are conveying the solutions you offer - they will always see value in it. In the end - YOU are the one who decides if your clients got value from what you did for them.
In the end - Travel is a luxury item - if you sell it cheaper - you are cheapening the experience, the industry and the perception of the client.
