What do you want to be known for?
Is it the same as what you ARE known for?
This episode sent me down a moment of epiphany when I realized that to choose your niche, to choose what you want to be known for, maybe the first time for many that we are truly choosing how we want others to see us and to proudly and boldly put that out for the world to see.
My question is what do you want to be known for?
Let's continue the conversation in the Facebook Group with the live discussion on Friday.
Are you tired of the constant drag of discount clients? Competing on price? Worrying about the Cost-driven warehouse TA or the OTA?
Building your business in November around Black Friday is quite likely going to drive even more price-driven cost language and comparisons. Instead, what if you were to consider using the first half of November to stack the deck in your favor? To have conversations with your clients to prepare for Black Friday 'deals' but to actually use those conversations to create a connection and understanding outside of the deals world.
What if those conversations could lead to bigger conversations that don't focus on the price-driven world?

I don't know about you - but the pitch right out of the gate is unpleasant.
When people send me a connection online and as soon as I accept, they immediately follow it up with a pitch - often without even having looked to see how I would be a fit. You can tell instantly that it's a copy and paste and is out of context and just all-around icky.
This episode shares why you need to ditch the pitch for your next connection.

In this episode, we celebrate our 2 year anniversary of the podcast with 5 Books that I can't recommend enough to Travel Advisors and Business Owners as a whole!
What does it take for you to be able to leave the office? Do you start with a plan? Or are you more of a winging it sort of a traveler/business owner? Over the years, I've learned the hard way that by pushing everything into those last 48 hours is the fastest way to enter a vacation in burnout mode. In this episode I'm talking about my experiences getting ready for an upcoming trip and what boundaires or questions I now build into planning my week away. Have you joined the Facebook group? As the saying goes - a Rose by another name would smell as sweet, but does the term Travel Agent pack the same emotion as Travel Advisor (or any of the other names that TAs today use)?
In fact, I declared in the episode, that I was wrong - okay maybe only partly. But you've got to listen to know what I was talking about.
We can call ourselves anything we want - but it doesn't mean that our clients have a clue what we're talking about. I remember the first time I heard the term "Big D Energy" I didn't have a clue what they were talking about because it was completely out of context. If you're not sure what it means either, send me a DM on Instagram and I'll tell you.
The reality is we need to use language that resonates with our clients NOW not where we want to be later on.
That's not to say you don't need to have an internal knowledge of who you are and what you bring to the role. If you view yourself as a special name, that's great, but unless it's completely mainstream then it's not an effective term to use. Marketing and Sales should require no explanations. If you have to subtitle what you're saying you've lost the game already!

In this episode, I share what it's like to get all the unsubscribes when your email goes out. How you get to choose what that means.
Then I went back and added to the episode to include a conversation on negotiating with your suppliers for better contracts.

Does it feel like you're pushing a rock uphill - with the brakes on sometimes? Sometimes we're simply too close to be able to see the progress we're making.
What used to take me 6 months to accomplish, now can be accomplished in just 24 hours. I'm betting there's a good chance that the longer you're in business the more you will experience this as well.
The only way to see the progress you're making is to track your steps. My personal preference is to track my progress for downloads, list growth etc. on a spreadsheet. I enter the numbers each week and it automatically shows the growth (or loss). With a weekly update, it lets me see my progress, based on data, not emotion.

What would happen if... These are four of the most powerful words that can move your business forward.
When you're prepping for your next trade event, make sure you have a plan and that you know who you want to talk to.
Do the research before you get there on the basics, use this time when you're face to face to ask the questions you can't ask google or the agent site. Use this time to build a connection with the local business development manager and build your contacts.
And when you've got your opportunity... ask them... "What would happen if..."
