Dr. Lars Thestrup was born and raised in Northern Virginia, where he attended Mary Washington College earning his B.S. In Biology. He received his M.D. at the Medical College of Virginia and completed his emergency medicine residency at Johns Hopkins. Lars then completed a fellowship in North Carolina, focusing on emergency medical services and disaster preparedness at the Carolinas Medical Center. Shortly after the completion of his fellowship, he accepted a position in the City of Houston, where he currently serves as an EMS Physician and practices at several emergency departments. Over time he realized his passion for health and fitness and its role in the prevention of disease which subsequently led him to the University of Arizona Integrative Medicine Fellowship. This has allowed him to continue his journey in helping others evaluate their current lifestyles and assist them in obtaining their individual goals. This book is an extension of that passion which he hopes will transform and educate those truly looking for a change.

Dr. KeriLyn Bollmann, MD, FACP

Dr. Bollmann's passion lies in lifelong learning and education of others.

• After graduating from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, AZ in 1995, Dr. Bollmann completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center/Phoenix VA (now University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, or UACOM-P) in 1998.
• She subsequently served one year as chief resident, before becoming an Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine residency program at UACOM-P, where she has taught residents and medical students for the last 20 years.
• Dr. Bollmann has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix for 20 years.
• Dr. Bollmann was on the Curriculum Committee for the UACOM-P medical school and has also written curriculum for the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM).
• She served as the Director of the Resident as Educator program at UACOM-P from 2014-2018.
• In 2011, she completed a Faculty Development Fellowship, advancing her training in the education of new faculty.
• She was also an original contributing author for the national American College of Physicians' (ACP) High Value Care curriculum.
• Dr. Bollmann has achieved the honor of Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), a designation given to physicians to recognize their ongoing contributions to the practice of medicine.

Dr. Bollmann has received multiple awards for leadership, teaching and community service. 

• Early in her premedical career she served as President of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the premedical honor society, and was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and Student Foundation.
• Dr. Bollmann is an Alumnus Member of the prestigious national Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
• She has received multiple awards during her career including Teacher of the Year, Faculty Community Service, and the statewide ACP Volunteerism and Community Service of the Year award.
• Most recently, she was honored as a “Top Doc” in Integrative Medicine 2020, selected by her peers (as seen in PHOENIX magazine) 

Dr. Bollmann completed a 2 year Integrative Medicine fellowship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine under the tutelage of Dr. Andrew Weil.

Jewel Daugherty​

Jewel Daugherty is  interested in matters of the heart like unconditional love, divine connection, and authenticity.  She curious about all the ways and reasons we live in opposition or resistance to those things and what is needed to let them go.  Wanting to be a vehicle for self-love, self-trust, creativity and intuition. Her journey to acquire those things for myself has been challenging and ongoing, and kind of awesome.

Jewels  spent 20+ years in the group and corporate fitness world. During that time, she married and had three children. After the birth of her second child, she began feeling off balance, anxious, and depressed. By the time her third child was born,  she was experiencing panic attacks.

Her doctor prescribed anti-anxiety medication but my instincts told her that was not the solution she was seeking. Jewels became curious about how other people were dealing with sadness, pain, or just not feeling themselves and she found herself in an ecstatic dance class. Her body was reminding me how much she love physical movement. She started spending more time outdoors reconnecting with nature and for the first time, realized she was going to figure this out. She was going to heal whatever it was that had her feeling some kind of way – and she did. 

Jewels decided to build on my education degree and extensive experience in the fitness world to include an inside-out approach to wellness. She became a Heal Your Life Leader, a program developed by Louise Hay and Hay House.  She am also a certified Forest Therapy guide and Journey Dance instructor, all immersive and healing experiences that have inspired my jewels in nature programs.

Alisha Bruhl received her Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Toledo. She started her career in sports and orthopedic physical therapy with a focus on treating endurance athletes.
Alisha began as a pelvic floor physical therapist 5 years ago and has since been dedicated to continued learning and empowering women with information about their resources. Alisha is currently pursing a certification in obstetrics as treatment women in pregnancy and postpartum is a special interest. She is a wife, mom of two busy toddlers and an exercise enthusiast! Dr. Pfleghaar (Dr. Jen) attended medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then went on to residency at St Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center for Emergency Medicine. Dr. Jen spent one year flying with Life Flight as a flight physician. She now works at local emergency rooms in the community and her office in Perrysburg, OH practicing Integrative Medicine. She is a graduate from the The University of Arizona: Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine's two year fellowship program (1,000 hour program). Dr. Jen has been featured on the local Podcast Thrive Tribe 419, a guest on Rebecca Regnier’s Full Plate (WTVG 13 abc), and has lectured at the Way Public Library. Her own health history of Hashimoto’s and having children sparked her interest in Integrative Medicine. She is very passionate about helping patients with chronic disease and letting our body heal itself. Dr. Jen is a Certified Yoga Instructor 200 hr with Aura Wellness Center and Kids Yoga with Yogafit. Her hobbies include spending time with her husband and four children, yoga, running, paddle boarding on the Maumee river and reading all things.

Dr. Jen is very passionate about health. She completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine. Healthcare is often symptom-focused and reactive, rather than prevention-focused and proactive. Patients and physicians rarely discuss nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle change, and instead focus mainly on diagnosis and treatment of disease. Many clinicians feel unprepared to discuss the safe and effective use of dietary supplements or herbal medicines, or how to help patients incorporate relaxation or mind-body practices into their lives. She believes it is important to take the time with each patient and develop a strong relationship. Her own health dilemma of Hashimoto’s disease, having MTHFR mutations and having her own children made her journey into Integrative Medicine a passion and a way of life. Some of her areas of focus include thyroid disease, hormonal imbalance, nutrition, ADHD, anxiety, stress reduction, eczema, and fibromyalgia. Dr. Jen is excited to work together as a team to find out the root cause of your symptoms.
