On today’s episode of the LLVLC Show, Jimmy talks about a Hollywood actress who warns her followers about following the keto diet.
“The vast majority of the population could do very well on a well formulated keto diet.”
- Jimmy Moore
In this episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, I share about an actress named Jameela Jamil who recently took to Instagram warning her followers about the ketogenic diet. She made various health claims about keto that simply aren’t true and so I corrected her where she got it wrong about nutritional ketosis. But I also celebrated her calling out the weight loss industry and some of the sordid tactics that they use to peddle junk on desperate people just wanting to shed some pounds.
On today’s episode of The LLVLC Show, Suzanne Ryan joins Jimmy to talk all about mental health.
“I had many years of my life where I lived on the sidelines and I didn’t step up. I didn’t want to live like that anymore.”
- Suzanne Ryan
Suzanne Ryan has been on the Ketogenic Diet since January 13th, 2015. She had been overweight most of her life, after failing at so many different methods to lose weight, she found keto and it has completely changed her life. She’s here to share her journey, encourage others, and share tips and recipes! She also has a YouTube channel and she posts weight loss updates, recipes, reviews, grocery hauls, and other keto related content. Check out her first book, Simply Keto, which will guide you through the ins and out of keto with helpful tips on getting started and finding your own personal success. Simply Keto also has over 100 easy, real-life low carb recipes!
In this interview, Jimmy chats with his longtime friend and fellow keto influencer Suzanne Ryan, author of BEYOND SIMPLY KETO. Watch as Jimmy and Suzanne touch on haters, challenges of being an influencer, the ups and downs of entrepreneurialism, mindset, and more. It’s another side of Suzanne you haven’t quite seen before.
On today’s episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show Jimmy delves deep into a new study showing the heart health benefits of Ketosis.
“People mix up ketoacidosis with therapeutic ketone levels.”
- Jimmy Moore
In this episode Jimmy reads from a new study published in the December 15, 2020 issue of the World Journal of Diabetes entitled “Effects of ketogenic diet and ketone bodies on the cardiovascular system: Concentration matters” (https://www.wjgnet.com/1948-9358/full/v11/i12/584.htm)
The researchers from France and Poland sought to make the clear metabolic distinction between the cardiovascular impact of the dangerous elevations of beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) that’s present in diabetic ketoacidosis as compared to healthy therapeutic levels of BHB produced through a low-carb ketogenic diet, supplementation, fasting, and exercise.
This is a very science-heavy study, but it is one that is sorely needed to shift the narrative away from negativity about eating keto somehow harming your heart health. Take this study to your doctor or anyone else who accuses you of somehow harming your health through nutritional ketosis. PASS IT ON!
On today’s episode of The LLVLC Show, dietician Shana Hussin talks about the power of fasting.
Shana Hussin worked as a dietitian and nutrition therapist for 15 years in the conventional medical field prior to her young son falling ill with a severe and chronic digestive disorder in 2016. Upon diagnosis, she was told by several doctors that nutrition had no bearing on his illness, and he would need lifelong medications to manage his debilitating symptoms. She began searching for the root cause of many chronic disease states.
In this interview, Jimmy talks to dietitian, author, and podcaster Shana Hussin, RDN from Fast To Heal in a special crossover episode on each other’s podcasts. Shana has grown increasingly frustrated with the failure of her dietetics training not actually getting to the root cause of why people get and stay sick. Now she advocates for a low-carb, high-fat, ketogenic nutritional plan with periods of intermittent and extended fasting to optimize health. Jimmy and Shana take turns interviewing each other in this simulcast on both of their podcasts.

“My testosterone went way up when I wasn’t scared of fat.”
- Jordan Castrillon
Café Wisk was founded in 2019 by Jordan Castrillon and Evan Dunn, both former Medical Technicians with the Canadian Armed Forces. The purpose behind this cafe turned bakery was to make the low carb lifestyle an easy, enjoyable, sustainable and healthy journey for its rapidly growing audience.

Have you thought about how your sleep affects how you look and feel? We take on a study today that peels back the layers on the importance of sleep.

- Jimmy Moore
In this episode of JIMMY RANTS on the LLVLC Show, I share about a brand new January 2021 study published in the journal Nutrients entitled “Later Meal and Sleep Timing Predicts Higher Percent Body Fat” (LINK TO STUDY: https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/13/1/73 The Colorado researchers found that later meal and sleep timing are associated with lower levels of physical activity and higher body fat. - Brian O’Halloran

“9 out of 10 people have some sort of vulnerability to sickness due to metabolic disease.”
- Jimmy Moore
In this episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, I share an outstanding article penned by a ketogenic physician named Dr. Kristin Baier, MD from LowCarbMDSanDiego.com called “Metabolic Health In The Time Of [DIVOC].” She does an excellent job of shining a bright light on the failures of the mainstream medical community in dealing with chronic diseases related to metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. Fixing these issues through nutrition and lifestyle changes is critical to helping patients who are desperate to be well returned to optimal health. It’s an inspiring article and we were happy to feature it in today’s episode.

On Episode 1705 of the LLVLC Show, Jacie Gregory drops by to talk about preparing for a bikini competition using carnivore.
“A month into trying carnivore I was able to stop my medication and I have an overwhelming sense of peace and contentment.”
- Jacie Gregory
Jacie Gregory is an animal-based aspiring bikini competitor. After trying (and failing) at other mainstream diets, she started the carnivore way of eating in January 2020 and hasn’t looked back. The mental and physical health benefits she has gained from an animal-based lifestyle allowed her to finally take the leap of pursuing an extraordinary dream – stepping on stage for a bikini competition in the summer of 2021. Her passion for sharing her carnivore journey comes from the positive impact that eating an animal-based diet has had on her health and on her life.
In this interview, Jimmy speaks with carnivore diet advocate Jacie Gregory (aka Lady Carnivory) about how a meat-based diet has worked better for her personal health goals than keto and vegetarian and that it has motivated her to take on the challenge of entering her first bikini competition. Watch this for a wonderful conversation that centers around mindset, mission, and of course meat meat meat!

Could your genetics determine which keto plan will work best for you? We talk all about this in Episode 1704 of JIMMY RANTS on the LLVLC Show.
“Just telling people to go keto is not enough. We need to know what kind of keto is going to work for that person.”
-Jimmy Moore
On today’s episode of JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show, I share a newly published paper in the journal BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health by Dr. Lucia Aronica, Dr. Jeff Volek, Dr. Angela Poff (@angelapoff), and Dr. Dominic D’Agostino (@dominic.dagostino.kt) entitled “Genetic variants for personalised management of very low carbohydrate ketogenic diets” (LINK TO STUDY: Genetic variants for personalised management of very low carbohydrate ketogenic diets | BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health). They put out the call for clinicians and researchers to look more closely at individual patient genetics to determine the effectiveness of using a ketogenic diet therapy. With all the genetic testing at our disposal nowadays, this seems like a logical next step in creating an environment for people to be successful in their weight and health goals. This is hot off the presses and so important! ENJOY!
