Hey guys, I've been so frustrated with how I see so much of the Coronavirus' effects playing out in the modern workforce and leadership that I recorded a podcast about how to be a true, humane leader and manager in these times. Much like other structural aspects of society that have been broken for a very long time, the current chaos is exposing flaws in the way the corporate world is structured and in the way management happens.

This week, I get on my soapbox and talk about one of my personal passions: why I think intentional self-discovery helps fuel nourishing self-care, which then allows us to show up to create the world that we believe we need. I connect self-knowledge to self-nourishment and why that matters more now than ever for us to be able to show up in the ways that are important. If we can't create our own intentional lives who reflect who we are at our cores, we won't be able to create the world we want to live in, either. So let's get together to know ourselves.

"Most of us know what an unhappy relationship with food feels like. We may feel frustrated or annoyed or out-of-control or embarrassed or secretive. But what causes that unhappy relationship?"
That's the question posed -- and answered! -- by life coach Katie Seaver, who joins me on the podcast today for a wide-ranging conversation about our relationships to eating, dieting, body image and more. We talk about everything from compulsive eating habits, to what emotional and intuitive eating really mean, to shame around body image, and practical ways to reconcile and work through the fraught landscape that is diet culture today.

Earlier this week I did a Facebook Live breaking down common terms you might hear as you delve into your own self help and awakening journeys, and I'm bringing it to you on this podcast too. I define everything from what a boundary looks like, to what codependency means, to what an inner child is and why we all have one, to talking about shadow work and much more. I found when I started my own personal awakening journey many of the terms were confusing -- too spiritual, too academic, not accessible enough. I hope this helps make some of them more clear for you!

I recently had a client write to me about all the shame she felt around the amount of support she needed in her life. She says she feels she needs extra support; feels shame around the amount of support she hires and pays for; and wonders if this all means she can't trust herself.
Going off of this topic, I talk about the difference between getting nourishing support and not trusting yourself; why some of us, I think, DO need more support than others; and how you can distinguish what's right for you.

Valentine's Day is over but I'm still talking all about self-compassion and self-love on today's episode of the Sunday Soother. What is self-compassion? How is it different from self-indulgence? Why can it actually -- gasp -- make you MORE motivated to do things instead of letting yourself off the hook? And instructions on creating a "self-compassion mantra."

It's Valentine's Day and I felt called to record a special bonus episode on my love and dating journey -- and it's been A JOURNEY in all senses of the word. I talk about my codependent patterns, my fear of abandonment, recognizing I was dealing with low self-worth in relationships, the shame I felt around being single, and the tools I used to move past it.

I turned 40 -- and wrote 40 lessons from this side of the hill! This is part II; click here to listen to part I. Wisdom includes how and why to lean into discomfort, how and why to create and stick to boundaries, why spending one hour in nature and one hour in silence a week is so important, and more. I also talk about shedding mindsets this month, how starting my own business has led me to face my self-worth and control issues, and more.
