September is National Recovery Month, so I'm kicking off a mini-series called Sobriety 101. This one's for anyone who wants a path to recovery outside of the traditional 12 steps. I'm a 12-stepper myself, but after 450+ episodes of this podcast, I know there isn't just one way to get and stay sober. In this episode, I'm sharing what I would do first if I were starting over today and didn't want to go the 12-step route: get brutally honest with myself about whether I can actually moderate. I talk about my own two years of trying (and failing) to control my drinking, the writing exercise I'd use to get clarity fast, and a warning about "coaches" who prey on people who aren't ready to fully give up alcohol. Today marks 11,821 days sober for me, one day at a time. This episode is brought to you by Soberlink, a high-tech breathalyzer with facial recognition and tamper sensors that sends results straight to the people who need proof you're doing the work. Go to soberlink.com/oneday to claim your $100 enrollment bonus with a qualifying plan. Next week: how to get through your first week of sobriety, nervous system regulation, and how to identify (and survive) your drinking triggers. If there's a topic you want me to cover in this series, leave a comment and let me know. Subscribe on YouTube and Apple Podcasts, and share this with someone who needs it.

This episode is a continuation of the step work I've been doing with friend Sonia Kahlon the host of the Sisters In Sobriety Podcast. We've both been getting really positive feedback so I'm excited to share this one with you! Today we dig into Step Six: which is "Were entirely ready to have God remove our character defects" Let me say right off the bat, that we do address that term "character defects" and offer maybe more palatable phrasing, so if that bothers you just know it doesn't have to be a barrier. In this episode, you'll learn: Why Step Six is really the "ish" step, and what that means for perfectionism in recovery How envy quietly becomes the thief of joy Why resentments build like pebbles in a sack until we collapse under the weight What internal family systems work (and "Manager Marge") looks like on an anxious morning If you find this podcast helpful in any way, please share it with a friend! And if you haven't watched these on YouTube yet, I highly recommend it. Be sure to subscribe and all that stuff. It really helps me get the message of recovery out to those who need it most. So without further delay, please enjoy this episode with Sonia! SHOW NOTES: Guest Website: https://thesobercurator.com/ 👊🏼Need help applying this information to your own life? Before I jump into this week's episode, I have a new resource that will help those who struggle with finances. After announcing that I launched a manifestation journaling app called ReInvent that helps reframe limiting belief, I realized that I didn't really provide much context! To remedy that, there is now a blog . I have posted my own personal story of how I tripled my income with this practice. I also include some of the science behind creating empowering beliefs, law of attraction, and wealth creation. You can find it at blog.getreinvent.app. If you are into manifesting, journaling, and reinventing your identity, you can try the app free at https://getreinvent.app Today, I have a very important episode for you, especially if you are going through a high conflict divorce or if you are dealing with post divorce abuse. In this episode I sit down with Ksenia Muench, a divorce coach who specializes in high-conflict divorce and post-separation abuse. Ksenia walked through her own six-figure, high-conflict divorce, and she now helps women go from feeling completely powerless to becoming the CEO of their own divorce. In this episode, you'll learn: • How to self-soothe without numbing or reaching for a substance • Why the harassment doesn't stop when the papers are signed • The gray rock method for staying grounded without reacting • How to rebuild trust in yourself and redefine who you are Guest Website: https://www.thriveagaindivorcecoaching.com/

Hi friend, welcome to this week's episode, my name is Arlina and I'll be your host. Before we jump in, I am excited to announce the launch of my new app, ReInvent. If you've ever felt like you're stuck, like no matter how hard you work, your bank account never quite catches up to your effort, it's not a strategy problem. It's a belief problem. One of my favorite quotes is from Dr. David R. Hawkins, found in his classic book Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender, is: "The unconscious will allow us to have only what we believe we deserve. The more we hang on to our negativity and small self-image that results, the less we think we deserve." I've spent 32 years studying behavior change and subconscious beliefs, and working with thousands of people. The ones who make lasting change and thrive are those who do the work of reinventing their identity. That's why I built the Reinvent app. It's a daily practice, just a few minutes each morning and at the end of the day, that helps you raise your sense of worth by creating a new empowered identity, so you start taking consistent action on opportunities that will lead you to achieving your goals. It's part law of attraction, part behavioral science, and it's built specifically to shift your beliefs around money and self-worth. Right now, Reinvent is in beta, and I'm looking for 50 people to try it free for 6 months and give me feedback. Just use the code REINVENT6 when you sign up. You can create your free account today at getreinvent.app. That's getreinvent.app, code REINVENT6 for six months on me. This beta round is going to fill up fast, so register today! In this episode, I sit down with Barney Whiter, financial and career coach behind The Escape Artist, for part two of our conversation about money beliefs, financial insecurity, and recovery. I put myself in the hot seat and let Barney coach me through my own money story. I've been thinking about it ever since! Barney shares how watching his parents struggle when UK interest rates hit 17% in 1981 wired him for financial anxiety that followed him for decades, even after he paid off his mortgage at 33. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why financial anxiety persists even when your finances are fine • How childhood money experiences literally wire your brain • The difference between the presenting problem and the real problem • Barney's complete toolkit for calming money anxiety: sleep, nutrition, resistance training, and more • Why fear is a powerful motivator with a shelf life, and what to use instead So without further delay, please enjoy this episode with Barney. Before we jump in, I just want to share that I have a few coaching spots opening up. There seems to be a lot of people who are sober and building businesses, which in this economy, is really smart! The biggest challenge I see is people who are under earning Due to subconscious fears. I use hypnosis and internal family systems as part of the process of eliminating limiting beliefs and creating a new identity that supports your goals. So if you're sober and you're building a business, but you keep self-sabotaging or staying stuck, I work with people exactly like you. Book a free discovery call at soberlifeschool.com. Today I sit down with Sonia Kahlon, co-founder of Sisters in Sobriety to tackle Step 5. Sonia has been moving through the steps with remarkable consistency, and this conversation gets real about resentments, boundaries, fear of asking for what we need, and the surprising ways sobriety makes us more sensitive, not less. This episode is packed with practical wisdom, including: • Why resentment is called the #1 cause of relapse - and what to do about it • How to set a boundary without going from doormat to dictator • The difference between your thoughts and your actions (and why it matters for Step 6) • How sobriety can actually make you slower to react - and why that's okay • What the Karpman Drama Triangle is and how it shows up in your relationships • Why if you spot it you got it is a tool for compassion, not self-punishment • How to use canned responses to navigate emotionally charged conversations So without further delay, please enjoy this episode with Sonia!
