  • 22. Why do successful men struggle with sex addiction? And, how do they change?
Sex addiction is what is called a “process addiction,” meaning that the dopamine comes from thinking. If you want to beat this addiction, you need to change the way you think.
Lara Dye (PhD and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) and I discuss how to navigate a process addiction and what goes into changing how a sex addict thinks.
High-achievers, business professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs have unique brain processes. We discuss where these thinking patterns come from and what successful men need to do to achieve sobriety and long-term recovery.

  • 21. Have You Been Looking At Triggers Wrong? What Actually Triggers Your Sex Addiction?
There’s an obsession with triggers in the sex addiction industry. But, it’s not that linear.
Rarely is a trigger sexual. Yet, there’s this focus in the sex addiction industry on arousal templates and men being triggered by women/ sexual imagery.
Sex addiction is classified as a process addiction. You should be looking for what triggers your process addiction rather than a sex or porn addiction.
The triggers and the “why” behind your sex addiction are best resolved in a group setting. Here you can listen to other men describe their process addiction and it will help you get to the root cause of your own.
If you are a high-achiever or entrepreneur and you are looking for a group of like-minded men to recover with, visit our website here: successfuladdict.com
Our program is designed specifically for high-achievers and successful men. Sex addiction presents differently in driven men. They’re outgoing, charismatic, and refuse to settle for mediocrity. These qualities cause a very unique addiction that differs from the men in the general population. For these reasons, high-achievers require a unique approach to sex addiction recovery.
Our groups cater to these differences and provide men with a peer group of like-minded individuals who they can better connect with.

  • 20. Sex addiction presents differently for successful men. Their addiction has a different motive.
There is always a reason ‘why’ a sex addict becomes an addict. Understanding your ‘why’ makes sobriety easier to maintain. However, with sex addiction, there’s much more than just WHY you do it that makes sobriety challenging. In this video, Chris Groff (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) and I talk about our experience working with business professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs who have developed sex addiction. Recovery is different for high-achievers. Chris and I break down what you can do to achieve long-term sobriety and a full recovery.

  • 19. High-achievers are expert shape shifters and people pleasers. While great traits in business, they can worsen your sex addiction.
Sex and Porn Addiction is not about sex and pornography. It is all about the story attached to the behavior. Most sex addicts have no idea what these stories are. As a result, stopping these behaviors can be difficult as you are not aware of the root cause. In addition, your wife will likely want an explanation as to why you did the things you did.
High-achievers have the drive to beat this addiction. The issue is that many of them are not equipped with the information necessary to get sober.
Havi Kang, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, and I discuss the most common reason why successful men develop a sex addiction and why it is difficult for them to stop.
Are they getting their needs met? What is it that they are looking for when they act out sexually? Listen to this video to find out.
If you are a high-achiever struggling with sex addiction and you are interested in diving deeper into your recovery, The Successful Addict may be the right program for you. We provide men with weekly calls, daily accountability check-ins, and a close group of other successful men to recover with. Your membership includes 2 in-person retreats in Sedona, AZ.

  • 18. How A Sex Addict Can Repair The Marriage (from the author of “Help Her Heal”)
Carol Juergensen Sheets is considered by many to be the "grandmother" of sex addiction. Her book, "Help Her Heal," is used by thousands of couples all over the world.
Sex and porn addicts have a lot they need to do in the first 6 months after their wife discovers their unwanted sexual behavior. Violating your wife's trust is one of the worst things you can do in a relationship. Hiding, lying, gaslighting. These things are hard to come back from. However, it is possible. In fact, many couples thrive after sexual betrayal.
In this interview, Carol and I break down the steps required to save a marriage after infidelity. Her decades of experience show as she can speak to a wide variety of challenges couples face when in recovery. Carol is a pioneer in the sex addiction space and her wealth of knowledge is clearly evident in this episode.

  • 17. Powerlessness is BS and It Keeps Sex Addicts Stuck
As a high-achiever and entrepreneur, I’ve always taken an issue with step 1 of the twelve steps: “We admitted we were powerless.”
I believe this is one of the reasons why so many men struggle with their sobriety.
Listen, you weren’t born with this sex addiction. You created it over time. And, you’re going to have to use your power to uncreate it.
There’s a difference between knowing that you don’t yet have the capability of solving a problem and giving away your power. I’m telling you, as someone in recovery myself, don’t give away your power.
Therapists will help you, your peer support group will help you, intensives and treatment centers will help you. But, it will be your power that is going to break your sex addiction.
Do you feel like something is missing in your recovery? If you are a sex addict who is a high-achiever, executive, professional, or entrepreneur, and you are looking for a recovery group, visit our website: https://successfuladdict.com

  • 16. How To Save A Marriage After Infidelity: Authentically Using Empathy To Heal After Sexual Betrayal
Betrayal trauma adds a complex layer to relational recovery. Sex and porn addiction takes a toll on the betrayed partner and they will need specific things to heal the marriage and rebuild trust. Empathy for their pain is one of the big ones. But, being empathetic is easier said than done. Often guys report that empathy statements feel unnatural and robotic.
In this episode, I interview Kristin Snowden. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and coach specializing in crisis couples issues related to addiction recovery, intimacy disorders, and betrayal trauma. She offers free and low-cost resources through her website and YouTube channel. Kristin incorporates treatment modalities like attachment theory, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, and Dr. Brené Brown’s research on shame and vulnerability. She runs a private practice in Westlake Village, California and is a regular content provider for SexandRelationshipHealing.com. Kristin and I discuss why empathy can be so difficult for men to show when they are trying to heal after sexual betrayal. We break empathy down into its parts, in an effort to make it easier for men to put into practice.
It's challenging for a sex addict to be empathetic when your wife is hurting because of something that is your fault. But, it's possible and necessary for her healing. This episode will help you put empathy into action.
Kristin's website, KristinSnowden.com provides valuable tools and support for those struggling in and out of their relationships, including course material, articles, and live online groups. She is the co-author of Life Anonymous: 12 Steps to Heal and Transform Your Life.

  • 15. Sex Addiction can’t be “stopped”… but, you can prevent it from happening
Sex and porn addiction happen in an environment that allows them to happen.
Often, men try to “stop.” But, stopping something that your brain wants to do is quite difficult.
There is a reason that they call overcoming sex and pornography addiction “recovery” rather than “quitting.” This is because change is required. You weren’t born a sex addict. You became one. Therefore, if you were able to recover your original belief system, the addictive behaviors would cease.
If you have struggled with sobriety, it’s likely that you have focused on trying to STOP rather than trying to change.
Sex and porn addiction happen in an environment that allows them to happen. Change the thinking that is creating the addictive environment… and you will experience the sobriety you have been hoping for.

  • 14. A Thriving Marriage After Sexual Betrayal. Is It Possible?
There are a ton of resources, podcasts, and books about making it through the initial crisis following sexual betrayal. But, there's hardly anything about thriving as a couple after betrayal. My clients are high-achievers who refuse to settle for anything mediocre. This includes their marriage. The goal is not just to avoid divorce... You want to be in the best possible marriage you can be in. My guess is that your wife wants the same thing.
In this episode, I interview Kate from TheBetrayedWife.com Kate is now in a thriving relationship with her husband. Which is exactly why I had her on the show. What is the roadmap to thrive after betrayal? What are the steps involved in getting there?
As a sex and porn addict, your sobriety is neccesary... but, it only is a portion of relational healing. This episode will discuss what it is that matters most.
