    • The book is an outgrowth of Dr. Borten’s and his wife’s medical practices. They found that true whole life wellness needs to bring in elements of traditional medicine as well as a holistic look at life.
    • There are three key elements to a well life: Structure, Sweetness, and Space.
    • Structure is your life architecture that you put in place to achieve your goals. Your structure should be organic and formed consciously as well as efficient. Your Structure should allow for enjoyment while also getting you to your chosen destination.
    • Sweetness is about the soul nourishing parts of life. The Sweetness elements should be prioritized and not seen as an indulgence. Building Sweetness into your schedule fortifies your ability to achieve your goals.
    • Space is about opening up and being present, going beyond your own mental dialogue.
    • We all have various degrees of trust in our lives, we should strive to surround ourselves with people who have integrity and focus on having integrity yourself. If you can trust yourself to have integrity, you will have confidence in your ability to achieve your goals.
    • It’s possible to tap into your gifts that instill a sense of purpose to your life. Start with a life purpose statement and then try on different roles to see what resonates. Having a purpose will shift the quality of your life experience.
    • Jing is the concept of essence in Chinese medicine. Acquired Jing is the energy you gain from eating quality food and getting restful sleep, you can learn how to function solely on acquired energy without depleting your reserves.
    • A self care practice is the best first step to creating a well life. How much do you prioritize the Sweetness in life?
    • Identify what really is important to you. If you’re not doing something that is important, whose priorities have you been living?
    • Take the time to meditate and cultivate a feeling of space so that you have time to respond to life instead of reacting.
