  • Episode #18- Bonus show: No Pace, No Crew- What do I do?
Dude- BONUS! Yep- we are throwing out a bonus show. There is so much happening we had to launch an extra one. The past couple shows we discussed pacing and crewing so Episode #18 dives into- No Pace, No Crew.
We don't want to spoil the show with a lot of text- have a listen and let us know what you think.

  • Episode #17- Crewing a race
We are BACK IN THE BUS- Studio 78 never felt so good. The bus braved the rain and pulled into the Beus Trailhead in beautiful Ogden, Utah for a fun show. After we cover some of the basics we got right after it.
Special guest- Crew Master/Studio78 repairman and all around good guy Lane Farka joined us to cover the ins and outs of crewing. Last week we covered pacing so the next logical step would be the best way to crew your runner. Although there is no "perfect" way to do it- we try to discuss the things that can make it a success. Being a part of a crew means you are part foot doctor, treasure map reader, nutritionist, cab dancer, motivational speaker, time manager and responsible friend. It may not all be roses and rainbows but to see your runner reach their goal is priceless.
Don't forget to leave a reply on Facebook for a chance to win a free entry into the Beaverhead 100k or 50k.
Also, don't forget to share the show and invite your friends to listen!
And lastly- make sure you come by and say HELLO at the Antelope Island races- Studio 78 will be there and we we be doing some interviews.

  • Episode #16- Pacing and another TM contest
After we catch up on some local weekly news we jump right into a topic that is dear to our hearts- pacing. Now pacing a trail/ultra race is a totally different ball game than pacing at a road race.
How do you select a pacer? What makes a good pacer? What are a pacers duties? Pacing pros and cons? Pacer preparations? Do you need a pacer? Is there pacing pressure? Pacer gifts? Car drops?
We dive into all these topics and hope to answer some questions and entertain you at the same time. Make sure you listen to the end so you can jump in and participate in the next TM contest. We look forward to hearing those great pacer stories!
    Thanks for listening...enjoy!

  • Episode #15- We are back! Race results, Buffalo Run and Strength Training
Did you miss us? We sure missed you. After an amazing trip to DC we are back and firing on all cylinders. We thought we would start by catching up on a few race results from Moab and Black Canyon. A couple early season races in amazing places. Congrats to those who punched tickets to the "big dance"- Western States 100 and all those who got out.
We had to take a few minutes to give a huge thanks and shout out to Mr. Jim Skaggs from Buffalo Run Adventures for all his support and help through the years. The Buffalo Run is fast approaching and registration closes on February 29th. Don't put it off any longer- register! The island is a magical place to run and the finish line party is crazy fun- plus you can get some amazing Buffalo Stew.
We close it out with some tips from our very own Joel Hatch on strength training. He throws out some great advice and helps answer a few questions to get started.
Thanks again for listening and don't forget to visit the site soon for some great TrailManners gear!

  • Episode #14- Wasatch 100, Western States and a loss to the community
When trouble hits the trail community people really step up. We had to say goodbye to yet another amazing person. It is humbling and inspiring to see so many people ready to do whatever is needed to help. We feel fortunate to be associated with so many people and groups and see and hear what they are willing to do. RIP Stephen Jones and condolences to your family.Western States steps up big time and possibly sets a trend for racing, testing and PED's.Wasatch 100 held their lottery and our man Turd'l Miller finally got the call- time to run Turd'l!Again- thanks for listening and don't forget to share us and invite all your friends to listen.

It's a great day-  not because it's Groundhog day but it's because Joel is back! We get right into some current news and what we have coming up for shows and our website. There is also a new contest that we hope you participate in. Use Instagram to post a photo of you on a peak and do the silly hashtag thing- #trailmanners and at the end of February we will draw a name for some awesome prizes. We also get into other training tools from strength and conditioning to recovery and "staying on the books". We are hoping for a very interactive show from our listeners- so listen up and get back to us about: training tools, our Instagram contest, 2016 resolution and please help Joel pick his 2016 fall 100 mile race.As always- thanks for listening and be safe out there!

  • Episode #11- Luke Nelson: "You can do more than you think you can."
PODCAST note: There is a SMUT race contest with this episode. That's right- a free entry into the distance of your choice for Scout Mountain Ultra but that's not all- you will also receive a Patagonia hat AND shirt from the race. Make sure to listen to find out all the details..
With the Outdoor Retailers Show showing up in SLC, UT we knew we had to score a few high quality shows. The opportunity to throw a mic at Luke Nelson was a no brainer. Not only is he one of those people that you want to be around but he makes you feel warm and fuzzy. Luke grew up in the mountains but it wasn't until a dare to run a marathon got him fired up about running and the rest is history. Luke was dared to sign up a week before a local marathon (with no training) and he obliged. He had about a week to get ready so he started training. A few days after he registered he got in a 3 mile training run but that left his legs a bit tired and sore. In true runner fashion he decided to taper after those 3 miles and let the legs rest. A couple days after that he raced that marathon and finished in 3:10 and third in his age group- he was hooked. Luke has traveled all over the world running and racing but calls Pocatello, Idaho his home. He is no stranger to adventure runs and as he says "there is always something in the cooker".Luke just finished up one of those runs with partner in crime- Ty Draney. They seem to always come up with "very bad ideas" and laugh to tell about it. 2016 is a big year for Luke, he has retained a coach and is gearing up for the Sky Running World Extreme series in Europe. We had a great time chatting with Luke and we thank him for all he has done for the sport.
