  • How to be a foster parent
I was recently asked in an Instagram AMA if I would share my thoughts on what it takes to be a foster parent. I want to be very clear that I am in fact not a foster parent nor a parent however as a child I was around the foster care system for years. As always it is full disclosure for me to say that I am not a doctor or therapist I am only sharing my views in my thoughts and whether right or wrong they are simply my truth. • Does trauma ever go away?
In this episode I talk about the impact of trauma. What is the most important questions trauma survivors ask is will trauma ever not affect me? For many of us the answer is no but for those of us who take it seriously and do the work the answer is yes. Just like a broken arm our wounds can heal. While our wounds the trauma may be emotional or mental when addressed with a care routine bonds can form and healing can take place. This podcast is not a replacement for mental health care. • What to do if you have toxic parents?
What do you do if your parents are toxic? What about if you experienced trauma and they don't believe you or blame you? What do you do when the people who are supposed to support you don't? Having toxic relationships can be very difficult to navigate because we are taught to always stick by our parents as if it is a social responsibility. What if that wasn't the case? In this episode I talk about how to navigate having toxic parents and what to do if you feel like you aren't getting the support that you need.

  • What to do when you change and everyone else doesn't
In this episode I talk about what happens when your journey to health begins to take hold and the people around you don't "get it". The path we take in healing often means to remove ourselves from past behaviors and thoughts but what happens when you replace your old way of life with the new? It is not uncommon for many people to see that you are changing but some are not up for going on the ride with you, nor should they be. We all are on a different path. So what do you do when you start to change and everyone stays the same?

  • Real Men Cry
The fabric of modern western society has taken away the space for boys and men to be human beings. We are laughed at and mocked at any sign of emotion and yet we are told to be more compassionate and kind to our partners, friends and selves. The baseline for our experience is not reflective of the expectations of the world.
In this episode I dive into my journey to learning how to cry, why I think it's important that men have a place to express emotions and how telling boys it's not OK to cry is destroying them.

  • The Power of Words
Have you ever wondered why certain words impact you in either positive or negative way? Have you found yourself allowed words to impact and change the direction of your day or even the course of your life. Words are a powerful tool in the journey of the adults survivor of childhood trauma. The words we use and that are used towards us are a reflection of ourselves. If we are the story that we tell ourselves then wouldn't it be true that the words in our story are just as important as the story itself?
In this episode of The Michael Unbroken Podcast I explore the most powerful word in my life and how you can change the way that words impact you. I also created a workbook about the Power of Words to share with you that is a companion to this podcast. I created this workbook from a selection of the Think Unbroken Academy. You can download that workbook for free here: www.thinkunbroken.com/words
This podcast will cover: Creating power statements around words, why the word broken should be stripped of our vocabulary, and a reminder to join the first online training for the Think Unbroken Academy. You can find those details here: http://bit.ly/MCThinkUnbrokenTraining

  • How ownership is the first step in healing childhood trauma and abuse
The number one question that I get asked is how to start to heal from childhood trauma. The number one answer that I give people is ownership. What does ownership mean? In this episode of the Michael Unbroken Podcast I break down what ownership means, how to leverage your story to start your healing journey why it is through admitting that we were hurt that we can create the life that we want. Healing from childhood trauma and abuse is not easy but the journey begins with acknowledging that we are hurt and facing ourselves and our truth. There are so many different healing modalities and practices that you can implement in recovering from abuse but the most important is making a decision and a choice to own your past, present and future. In ownership comes a newfound lease on life and a new direction.
This episode will cover: Ownership, reconciling your past, using your past to create your future, how the childhood trauma brain works, and a secret message at the end!
