Here's a tricky one - you come home from a workout, all endorphin-ed out and feeling great, and your partner hits you with a big time grump. They're not excited for your progress and it's frustrating!
Or maybe they have even said something to you about getting too skinny.
What should you do then?
Here's a couple do's and don'ts that can help you navigate this situation
DON'T try to motivate, prod, or TELL your partner what to do.
DON'T guilt trip or criticize
DON'T mention looks or attractiveness
DON'T ask your partner, are you going to eat that (should you be eating so late, are you going to finish that…)
DON'T accuse your partner of sabotage DO clearly communicate how it feels when
DO tell them they have the right to eat whatever they want
DO talk about the effects of being healthier (i.e. not eating out and seeing friends as much)
DO let them take the lead in talking about weight loss/fitness etc
DO make sure conversations are about health, not attractiveness
DO suggest things you can do together (i.e. walks, bike rides, team sports, )
DO talk about the benefit to your family that comes from weight loss
DO find ways to use exercise to be helpful (take kids to the park, out for a walk, yardwork)
