Welcome to the time of Beltane! Beltane is a Gaelic May Day festival recognizing the midway point between Spring and Summer. This is a time when we can feel the return of longer days, more sunshine, & life blooming from the ground and all around us. It's a wonderful time to notice the little energies that are coming to life within us, the sparks of excitement around new love, adventures, pursuits, creative, or business ideas.
On this episode, I focus on the Divine Feminine practices and rituals we can use to tap into and work with the energies of this time of emerging light and life. I elaborate on the importance of time in Nature (a major staple of Beltane) and the many different forms of meditation and grounding you can use to achieve a greater connection with your higher self and deepest desires. I also pull an Oracle card from the beautiful deck, Nature Whispers. You can find it here:

Throughout the course of our lives, almost everyone will experience some form of an unhealthy relationship with various energies that we engage with. By energies I mean food, drugs, alcohol, sex, money, love, social media, the list goes on. These energies can change the way we think, feel, and experience ourselves and the World around us. They can be very enjoyable yet also detrimental if we abuse them. We all have some form of relationship to and interact with these energies on a regular basis, with the exception of substances which we can choose not to partake in at all. If we find ourselves struggling with one of these energies and feeling an obsession, preoccupation, loss of control, impact on our relationships, family, and life then we may be crossing into an addiction with that energy.
In this episode, I offer signs which may indicate that an addiction is beginning to develop in your life and some first steps you can take if that is the case. As a therapist, I specialize in addiction, substance abuse, and eating disorders all of which I have experienced personally. I share a bit of my own experience as to how I realized I had a problem. I also distinguish the difference between having a tendency to abuse and have a conflicted relationship with an energy versus a full blown addiction.

Winnie Chan Wang is the self professed Queen of compassion and transformation, She takes on this title because she understands the vital importance of being compassionate, towards ourselves and others, in order for transformation to take place. This is because once we can show compassion, we can let go of anger and victim mentality, taking ownership and radical responsibility for our own happiness, wellbeing, and becoming our highest self. Yet often the route to true compassion is through the shadows. Winnie is a licensed acupuncturist and intuitive healer who inspires people to turn their wounds into their power and move from victim to the victor of their story. And the only way to do this is to get into the depths of shadow work.
On this episode, Winnie and I share about our own experiences with shadow work, beginning to live with an open heart, and how to trust the timing, relax, and let things come to you. We also touch on how all of these things ultimately allow for happy, healthy, and fulfilling relationships and greater joy.
Winnie is a licensed acupuncturist, intuitive healer, and a professor in acupuncture at Alhambra Medical University. She is passionate about teaching people how to release the trauma from their bodies with Traditional Chinese Medicine and mindfulness meditations. She believes wellness belongs to everyone regardless of income level, and has been providing free resources online for everyone to access since 2018. She is also the founder of Compassionate Transformation Community (http://www.lovect.net/), a nonprofit dedicated to the mental wellness of youth and their parents.

There is a single daily habit which can completely change each and every experience and interaction in our lives. Are you ready for it? Come from love. That's it. Allow yourself to come from a place of love in everything you do. Simple as that. Yet as simple as it may be, it can feel extremely difficult and damn near impossible when we are blocked with feelings of anger, resentment, and self loathing. This is where a coach like Amber Bariaktari can come in to help. Amber is an Integrative Nutrition, Health, and Wellness Coach who focuses on empowering people with autoimmune disorders, as this has been one of her greatest life challenges. Amber understands the need to love, trust, and listen to your body in order to have greater peace and a more open heart.
On this episode, Amber shares about the many ways she has learned to come from love in her life including in har polyamorous relationships with 2 life partners. Amber is writing the book, Always Come From Love in Everything You Say & Do, Even to Yourself, with one of her life partners. She shares 3 tips on how to come from love using the Divine Feminine approach and shares about how her journey to self love and acceptance of all parts of her life have gotten her to a place of health, wholeness, and appreciation for exactly who she is and the gifts she has to offer.
Amber Bariaktari went from being disabled with Rheumatoid Arthritis to now not being disabled and thriving and now she’s an Integrative Nutrition, Health, and Wellness Coach helping to empower people with RA or another autoimmune diseases to lower their symptoms and disease activity by using an integrative approach and working with their bio-individuality. Amber is also a long time producer, writer, director for film and web series as well as she unschools her 12 year old daughter and is a gentle positive attachment parent. Amber is a Taoist as well as she is polyamorous and has two life partners. She is a 4/6 manifestor and has been learning more and more about human design and she is finally starting to understand herself better. Amber truly feels she’s always been part of this new paradigm that has been unfolding before us in more recent years because she’s never been in a box or has ever had a lane that she stays in and she’s always an open book quietly, or being herself, which she feels educates people or helps plant seeds in them for their own growth and understanding and helping the world at large learn to come from love in everything that they say and do, even to themselves.
Is it possible that there is deeper reason why depression, anxiety, suicide, and addiction rates are so high in our World? What is love? It's a big question. Yet it's an important question to explore as it is a question that Humans still don't seem to be able to answer. Is love finite or infinite? Can we love many different people at the same time or is romantic Love reserved to one person at a time? These are questions I explore on this solo episode as a spinoff of my interview with lifestyle coach, Lisa Melendy.
What are your ideas around love and relationships? It is a very personal preference of course and really there is no right answer, only your unique truth. In this episode, I offer some take away concepts to contemplate around love, relationships, and finding your sovereign truth.

When it comes to making major life decisions, like what type of relationship we want and who we want to have them with, the quickest way do so is by connecting with your true inner self. There you can find the answers unaffected by societal expectations, judgement, or fear. Yet how can we gain access to that part of our selves that hold such great clarity? Lisa Melendy is a lifestyle coach who guides her clients in doing the inner work to find true alignment in their relationships with self and others as well as with the environment and the World at large. In her own life Lisa practices non-monogamy and non-traditional family creation. She provides unique insight into this lifestyle and explains how it can only can only be done with a strong sense of self respect, worth, and awareness.
On this episode Lisa and I explore building new paradigms around relationships, the conventional ideas around what a relationship or partnership "should be", and how to begin trusting in Universal laws to achieve goals and act on your purpose.
Lisa offers deep relief to her clients without feeling left like they've been run over by a truck. 10 years of experience has taught her a lot about the body and mind. Through massage, mindfulness, yoga, and coaching she creates an atmosphere of calm and tranquility, perfect for healing and relaxation. Lisa works with clients to build new paradigms around relationships, most usually around monogamy and our cultural norms around what a relationship "should" be.

As a therapist specializing in addiction and substance abuse, I'm often asked to provide referrals for treatment centers. Although I've worked in a few and am familiar with many in the Bay Area and beyond, it's hard to actually know the inner workings and experience that someone might have there. This is where the guys behind Rehab Road Trips come in. Jeremy and Dallas began their video production company to offer authentic and accurate information to the public by helping rehab and other mental health facilities create a marketing video that allows people to know what they're all about.
On this episode, Jeremy and Dallas share about what brought them to creating their company as well as their personal stories of addiction and recovery. As three people in recovery, we each share about some of the myths around sobriety, the great joy that can come from a life free of substance use even if it seems like it would be dull and boring, and the ways we have changed as people by taking that long walk back to ourselves after getting lost in addiction.
Jeremy Miller, Co-Founder & CEO
Having worked in residential treatment for a decade, Jeremy is familiar with both the clinical and operational sides of treatment, and uses this experience in supporting programs with their media & marketing. Since childhood filmmaking was the vision, the dream, and the goal. After choosing recovery and finding the life he’d always wanted, filmmaking took the backseat for a few years while he solidified his life as a sober person. With 14 years of recovery under his belt, he has excitedly jumped back into filmmaking focusing on creating videos that help people find the same success he did in recovery.Jeremy feels a deep calling to leverage his unique skills and talents to support people in their healing.
Dallas Terrell, Co-Founder & COO
Dallas deeply loves the work that he does and the field he is in. Often times he has felt called to do this work and recognizes that it is not for everyone. His goal is to highlight effective treatment on a broader and wider scale for the world. He believes that the solutions to conquer addiction should not be muddied or hidden to those that need them. Dallas has been sober for close to 8 years and continues to work a program of recovery in his daily life. He is also a Crossfit Level-One Trainer and has facilitated fitness and health groups for the substance abuse population.

Grief can be a very heavy and overwhelming emotion. It can seem to live within us, its own lifeforce that can't be tamed. At times it may feel that grief may take us under or be with us forever. Yet there is more to grief than meets the eye. My guest this week, Annie McDonnell, is an acupuncturist, sound healing practitioner, and grief guide who teaches self-care practices to nurture tender hearts and cultivate resilience through the power of gentleness. Annie offers gentle and loving guidance on navigating grief, the nature of grief, common misconceptions about grief, and how to make peace with grief.
In this episode, Annie and I share ideas around how grief can actually be seen as the result of powerful love and can be embraced as such with patience and kindness. We explore how struggle with grief can lead to feelings of low self worth & deep regret and how we can take steps to shift our understanding of and beliefs about grief. We also address the various types of grief, stages of grief, and what unexpected and delayed grief looks like.
Annie McDonnell helps clients in virtual sessions to get unstuck, tune into their creativity, and reconnect to inner calm. In addition to a free monthly collective grief circle, she offers one-on-one Grief Care sessions. To learn more about these offerings, as well as her upcoming self-paced digital course Finding Your Way Through Grief, she invites you to visit Website: joyalchemyhealing.com
