When I was in high school, there were loads of rules that we should always follow. Today, I would like to talk about a rule which has a negative impression on me.

Generally, the rule is forbidding us to bring or get our electronic devices in our school. This includes our phones, tablets, Ipads or even our laptops. I really loathe this rule since it hampered our learning and access for education. This rule limited us from getting more information and knowledge on the online world. Instead of exploring on google or baidu, we were just stuck on using our books and magazines for our references.

As for others, they also had a bad feeling about the rule. In one of our subjects, we were required to conduct a research in our groups. Due to this rule, we weren’t able to maximize different references particularly the internet. Most of us are digital natives, this rule deprives them to utilize their skills.

Moreover, even if it was against my will, I still followed this rule. Maybe, our school administrators had deeper reasons why they had pushed this rule. In some cases, some students in the past also used their phones for cheating or sharing their answers. Maybe, it was one of their reasons.

I believe that every rule or law is like a coin. There is always a black and white area of it.

It’s not every day that I get to say I had a whale of a time but when I acquired the services of KLM Travel and Tours, they walked the talk. As a matter of fact, they promised me and my buddy Rhow, we would have a hassle-free vacation and true to their word, we did. You see we have been anticipating the day that we can explore the majestic country of Thailand, the land of smiles. So when I realized that this travel agency is highly recommended, we didn’t have any second thoughts. We immediately rushed to their office expecting nothing but the best. When we arrived there, we were offered drinks as they showcased different travel itineraries  that would suit our budget. They patiently explained the best places of interest, tourist attractions, and other activities that fit our preferences and personality. It didn’t take them long to book our accommodation, transportation, and processed everything we need. They even gave us their personal contact information for any questions and clarifications. On our departure date from China, they even gave complimentary meals while waiting to board the plane. The duration of our trip was so smooth, they were very considerate, and efficient. I must admit every penny we spent was worth it.

The skill that I found difficult to learn is learning to drive. For most people, I think this is a basic skill. The majority of people are able to drive without difficulty. However, for me, it’s not a simple thing to do. The reason is that I find it hard to coordinate myself. For example, I wasn’t good at sport when I was at school. I find it hard to measure distances and to work out how to move the car safely. One of the hardest things to do was to park the car. I was always worried that I would hit another car. It always seemed so big when I was driving it. However, I decided to keep trying because it was important to me. It was important to me because I wanted to be independent. I wanted to be able to travel without asking my husband to take me. I have to say that I failed the driving test three times before I passed it. It was very disappointing and very difficult to continue. However, finally, it became easier and I started to see how I could handle the car. When I passed, I felt great. I was so happy. It’s a good lesson to know that if you continue, you will eventually get what you want. Now, I still feel a little uncomfortable when I drive, especially when I am alone. But I am getting used to it now and I expect I will feel more confident soon.

They say that there is no end to learning. In fact, there are so many things in this world to learn, but unfortunately, I neither have the time nor the money to do so. But, one thing I really want to learn, for sure, is French.

According to a survey I once read, French is the most beautiful spoken language, and I couldn't agree more. About five years ago, I watched the movie The Devil Wears Prada, and several scenes  were shot in Paris. So, I guess it's safe to say that this film made me fall in love with Paris that I even have the desire to learn French. When I watched the movie, Emily in Paris, I dreamed of living there.  I fancy the romantic atmosphere it exudes（洋溢，散发）, the food, art, fashion, and more.

Therefore, if I were to pursue this, I really need to learn their language so it will be easier for me to fit in. I could probably learn the basics online and then sign up for language classes. I heard that it could cost an arm and a leg to enroll, so I'll have to save up some funds for it.  With regards to how I would feel, I would surely be ecstatic because I'm fulfilling a dream that I’ve had for a very long time. Although I'm aware that learning another language is not a walk in the park, I'll spare no effort to grasp it. Overall, I'm looking forward to it.

Pondering about this topic, a tough activity that springs to my mind is none other than  surfing.

I tried surfing first when I travelled to a majestic and splendid coastal city which is Sanya. This place is known for water sports so when I went there, I grabbed the opportunity of doing surfing.

Surfing is an extreme sport which needs flexibility, endurance and strength. It needs proper coordination and balance so the movement against the water will be stable.

I did it well through the patient assistance of my friend who is an expert surfer as well. He provided me with some useful strategies that really helped me balance well under my surfing board. Also, he encouraged me morally to trust and believe in myself that I am stronger than the waves. He made me realize that the waves are the challenges in life and I needed to surpass them so I could be successful.

As a first timer  of this sport, surfing was really not a walk in the park for me. The waves of the ocean were very fierce and immense before, so it was a tough one facing them.  In addition, I am not yet a professional swimmer so it added many worries in my head about drowning or dying.

Furthermore, I was so much delighted after overcoming my fears and trying this sport.

This experience brought out the best of me not only physically but also emotionally. If I will have another chance in the future, I would like to try it over again.

Well, this topic reminds me of the time I moved from Heshun Town to Kunming. Heshun is an ancient town located in the southwestern part of Yunnan province, while Kunming is the capital city. My parents separated when I was young, so my mom took me to Heshun under my grandma's wing. I spent a blissful childhood there and finished my elementary education.

Like most parents, my mom wanted me to obtain an excellent education, and that means moving to the city. Unfortunately, my grandma didn't want to come with us because she owns a farm there that she didn't want to leave. Although we didn't want to be too far from her, we had to move to Kunming. At this point, I could already fend for myself, so my mom was at ease despite not having grandma with us.

The city was so different from Heshun. Kunming is very modernized, lively, and even more convenient. Anyhow, I enrolled in a hundred-year-old elite school that is notable for its outstanding performances in college entrance exams, and I couldn't be more thrilled. Of course, I had to be competitive, so I often burned the midnight oil. I was busy as a bee, but all the hard work I did was worth it. I passed the college entrance exam and got into aprestigious university. I still have a long way to go, but I'm filled with gratitude to my mom and granny for the support they had been giving me all these years, and I hope that they would both live long enough for me to pay them back.

I am not a fan of getting up early. However, let me talk about an experience when I was scheduled for a flight bound to my hometown.

You see, at that time I got no choice but to be an early bird. It happened a few weeks ago, and the worst part is, it was on a weekday. Naturally, I had to beat the morning rush since my flight time was at 10 o'clock and I even had to commute in order to get to my destination. It’s usually an hour trip if it’s smooth sailing but I also need to transfer from one station to another which is quite worrisome on my end. I got up at 4 in the morning so I could catch the 5 am trip and avoid the traffic congestion then connect to the other station by 6 am. Unfortunately, the train was delayed for almost 15 minutes which made me so anxious. I was so terrified that I might miss my flight. Luckily, the train sped up to compensate for the lost time which I admit was a relief. I got to the airport in time and checked in my baggage, 2 hours before departure. I rewarded myself with a hefty breakfast and even went window shopping as I wandered and waited for the boarding time.

Thinking about this topic, a well-known athlete who springs first to my mind is non-other than the late Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant is a black American professional basketball player who played in the NBA for more or less than two decades or twenty years. He was the former shooting guard of the Los Angeles Lakers who became one of the reasons why his team got back-to-back championship titles and became the MVP several times.  On the hard court, Kobe’s gift on basketball is indeed undeniable. Through his established organization, he has already taught millions of aspiring NBA players across the world.

Moreover, aside from his skill on the ball, what makes me impressed about him is his words of wisdom that he shared when he was still alive. Kobe Bryant is the man behind the phrase “Mamba Mentality”. This means never quitting or giving up in every setback  each of us is facing.

Indeed, Kobe Bryant is not only famous because of his basketball actions but also his inspiring words.

Despite the fact he is gone now, I would forever keep in my heart the Mamba Mentality.  I might not be able to see him again play in the NBA, but surely that his legacy will remain among us forever.

If I will have a chance, I would like to thank him for the inspiration and aspiration he has given to me. Maybe it’s impossible right now but I hope he knows how much impact he has left on me.

Shanghai is one of the most impressive cities I have ever heard of, so I want to be there with some of my close mates. I want a trip in a car with them. I once read in an article that Shanghai is the New York City of China, perhaps, this is because it's the country's global center for finance, business, economics, and its decadent nightlife. However, it's also renowned  for its historical landmarks such as The Bund, City God Temple, Yu Garden, and so many more. All of these things I mentioned are the reasons why I've been dreaming of going there.

I have been saving up for a car so I would really fancy  embarking on this journey  once I finally get it which would probably be a year from now. By then, I'm hoping that we're finally back to normal so I could take this road trip conveniently.  

I'm yearning to go there by car because it will be a long journey since I'm coming from Changsha and going on long trips is something that I've never done before. Thus, this would be a thrilling adventure for me. I'm optimistic that my close buddies would love to do this with me since it will be a delightful  opportunity to escape from reality momentarily  and let off some steam . In a nutshell , I'm undoubtedly looking forward to this.
