Now Donald Trump has cast himself in the role of Hollywood’s saviour. “The Movie Industry in America is DYING” , America’s president posted on May 4th on Truth Social, his social-media site. Other countries’“concerted effort” to lure film production away not only hurts the  economy, but also poses a “National Security threat”, he claimed, since foreign films are used as propaganda.To redress these ills, Mr Trump proposed a 100% tariff on films produced abroad.

The struggling American chip giant’s new boss is no stranger to comebacks 

正文：INTEL, AMERICA’S semiconductor giant, has had some notable bosses. Robert Noyce, its first, invented the silicon chip that gave Silicon Valley its name. Gordon Moore, who came next, etched his place in tech lore with a prediction—Moore’s Law—that processing power would double every two years at the same cost. Andy Grove, the third boss, turned Intel into a semiconductor juggernaut, driven by the mantra that “only the paranoid survive.” The latest to join this lineage is Lip-Bu Tan, who took over in March.

标题：Fired DOJ attorney says on TikTok that POTUS pardons cost $1 billion 

Liz Oyer says Americans lost out on restitution because POTUS sidestepped the usual clemency process to pardon allies. 

正文：Liz Oyer, the Justice Department’s recently fired pardon attorney, made a staggering claim on social media this week: POTUS’s pardons of people convicted of white-collar crimes have cost Americans $1 billion. She arrived at the number by adding up all the money that people who were pardoned allegedly owed in restitution, based on how much they were convicted of stealing. Some pardon recipients had not been sentenced, which means that a judge had not yet ruled on prosecutors’ calculations of what they owed back to their victims. At least one pardon recipient had already started paying restitution and could attempt to get that money back.

正文：Snooker has been dying for decades. “It just feels boring, ” said Ronnie  O’Sullivan, the most talented man to play the game, in 2009—the equivalent of Roger Federer opening a press conference with “Tennis sucks.” The days of the 1980s, when one in three Britons would watch the final of its world championship, are gone. 正文：POTUS and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos are feuding again. The White House lashed out at Amazon on Tuesday for reportedly planning to display how much of a product’s cost comes from POTUS’s tariffs. Doing so would emphasize to consumers that U.S. tariffs are not paid by overseas companies, but by the American companies importing the goods, and then largely passed on to customers.
