The Empowered Divorce Podcast; Navigating Divorce After Betrayal Trauma and Abuse

97. The Difference Between Uncomfortable & Intolerable

Listen Later

In this episode, we delve into the crucial distinction between what is uncomfortable and what is intolerable in the context of healing from trauma and navigating an empowered divorce. Understanding this difference is essential for your healing journey and can significantly impact your ability to manage and process emotions effectively.

I discuss how in my brainspotting sessions, communication and partnership are key. We use the SUD scale (Subjective Units of Distress) to measure the severity of discomfort and ensure that processing remains within a manageable window of tolerance. This helps prevent the overwhelming flood of emotions that many clients fear.

We'll explore why it's important to lean into uncomfortable emotions as a means of expanding your window of tolerance. This process is essential for growth, resilience, and emotional maturity. By differentiating between discomfort and intolerable feelings, you can stay in control, make empowered choices, and avoid being overwhelmed.

Join me as we unpack practical strategies to discern and navigate these feelings, helping you to handle life's challenges with greater clarity and self-compassion. This episode provides valuable insights for anyone on a healing journey or dealing with the complexities of divorce.

"In the journey of healing, every step forward, no matter how small, is a testament to your courage and resilience. Trust your strength, embrace your growth, and remember that you have the power to create the path to your own happiness." Amie
