Anne Hathaway knows her audacious new film is eliciting gasps and raised eyebrows.

The film takes place in 1960s Massachusetts, where Eileen works at the local prison alongside colleagues who have ostracized her and endures verbal abuse from her alcoholic father at home.

Then Dr. Rebecca St. John (played by Anne Hathaway) shows up who immediately turns heads when she joins the prison staff. She’s the new prison counselor, a bottle blonde fresh from Harvard with flashy clothes and a hint of trying too hard. No matter, as far as Eileen is concerned, Rebecca is just what she needs, and she latches onto her quickly and firmly.

Chinese moviegoers are singing La La Land’s praises.

“La La Land” is headed back to Chinese cinemas in sessions that dance off on Dec. 22. The six-time Academy Award-winning film was honored with a clean sweep at the Golden Globes – seven nominations and seven wins.

La La Land captures something special and specific, a shapeless passion that seems to tug at the heartstrings a little stronger when love is on the mind. The chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is a tension that fills every room that the two occupy. Those unforgettable musical numbers seem to leap off the screen and invigorate the part of the mind that yearns for a free and uncynical love.

Playing Disney princesses hasn't been all that enchanting for Halle Bailey and Rachel Zegler.

During a conversation with Halle Bailey, Rachel Zegler has taken the high ground against the online trolls who criticized her casting in the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs live-action remake.

“Choosing thankfulness and gratefulness is choosing peace”, said Zegler. "

Bailey was hounded by racist remarks online ever since she was cast as The Little Mermaid's titular character in 2019.

Bailey chimed in and added, “Stay grateful and ignore the hate.”

Beautifully said! These ladies have such grace and an incredible ability to turn the other cheek.

Advertisers are fleeing social media platform X over concerns about their ads showing up next to pro-Nazi content and hate speech on the site in general, with centibillionaire owner Elon Musk inflaming tensions with his own posts endorsing an antisemitic conspiracy theory.

But Musk needs all the traffic and engagement he can get now that major advertisers including Disney and Walmart have "boycotted"—to use his words—the platform.

In the meantime, Elon Musk claims he would happily serve time behind bars if one of the arms of the U.S. government such as the FBI were to attempt to censor content on X, even though he called himself a law-abiding citizen.

Daniel Radcliffe is celebrating the man who made him fly.

The “Harry Potter” star produced a new documentary about his stunt double from the films. “David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived,” chronicles the titular 42-year-old’s journey after being paralyzed on set.

Holmes was a child gymnastics prodigy who became a stuntman and worked his way into a dream gig: doubling for Daniel Radcliffe in the Harry Potter franchise. But Holmes’ broom-flying days ended in 2009, when he was paralyzed while performing a stunt for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.”

“He smashed into the wall,” stuntman Marc Mailley recalls in the documentary. “And now he’s just hanging there like a puppet with his strings cut.”

Sharp and witty, Lucy Liu is a no-nonsense person. As an Asian-American, her journey to stardom has been ridden with innumerable obstacles.

After years of self-doubt and believing that she “wasn’t ever going to be important enough or good enough or right enough, color-wise”, she takes criticism into her stride, responding with dignity and poise.

That Liu’s A-list career was forged at a time when opportunities for Asian actors in Hollywood was still limited, in the years before “diversity” and “representation” were distant buzzwords, still feels remarkable. In an op-ed, she wrote: “I feel fortunate to have ‘moved the needle’ a little with some mainstream success, but it is circumscribed.”

In most colleges around the world, the dress code for one’s commencement includes formal attire and black robes. However, not every collegegoer wants their special day to be gloomy and dull.

Students at Kyoto University have thought out of the box and gone their own way. They have brought out their most over-the-top, creative costumes to celebrate their years of arduous work.

After all, they’ve been studying hard and deserve to let off some steam, whether dressing up as manga characters or cosplaying their favorite superhero or snack.

He’s building a Zuckerbunker.

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are reportedly putting together a sprawling $270 million Hawaii compound — which covers roughly 1,400 acres and features multiple mansions — in a secret project suggesting the social media mogul is trying to conceal his doomsday preparations.

Connecting the mansions will be a tunnel and a 5,000-square-foot shelter with living space, a library to pass the time, an escape hatch for quick exits and soundproof, bomb shelter-like doors made of metal and concrete. The whole place will be self-sufficient for food and water.

A drop in subscribers pushed East Buy’s Hong Kong-traded shares to a 17% decline for the week so far.

What caused fans of East Buy’s channel to leave was a dispute about the authorship of a screenplay. Dong Yuhui, a celebrated livestream host, was in focus after a channel editor claimed that the screenplay’s script was a collaborative effort.

The comment sparked an outcry among Dong’s fans, who maintained that he was the sole author.

What separates Dong from the vast number of live-streaming hosts in the country is his shtick. He blends salesmanship, educational spirit, and humor in his pitches.

Before Margot Robbie was behind the wheel of Barbie’s bright pink convertible, it was actually Anne Hathaway who was going to be in the driver’s seat.

Way back in 2017, Hathaway was considering playing Barbie for Sony Pictures, with Alethea Jones circling to direct. The Oscar-winner says now, in hindsight, it’s a “lucky thing” her Barbie movie never saw the light of day.

Why? The actress says the team behind this year’s Barbie, “hit a bullseye.”

She was equally effusive in her praise for the woman who is the producer and eventual actual onscreen Barbie, Margot Robbie.
