    This week on the Better with Running Podcast, Chris and Zacca catch up again for a chat all things running and training.

    Chris talks through another positive week and progression with his training including some 400s and a solid long run.

    Zacca explains why he got up so early for a run, and is slowing converting towards becoming a morning runner, we hear about his workout around Albert Park, before he questions the behaviour of some triathletes and his training partner’s antics on a Sunday run.

    Chris and Zacca attack the topic of transitioning into track spikes, and the importance of building strength and a layered approach in training before lacing them up for a race.

    This week on the Better with Running Podcast, Chris and Zacca give us an update on their training weeks.

    Zacca knocks out another week, going to a staple fartlek session in the rain, and we have a deep dive into the progress of his knee, with an update and insights from the man who has got him back on the park,  James Telford from  Physiolife. James talks about the injury, his diagnosis, what steps he has introduced to get him back on track that can be applicable to all runners, before leaving us with some tips to help bulletproof you from getting injured.

    Chris continues to rebuild with some more ks under the belt before getting some speed back into the legs with his first session, as all roads lead towards his pacing gig at the Wellness Run.

    Around the grounds features some results from Josh Harris stable, including young legend Archie Payne breaking 40mins and embarking on another MND fundraiser.

    The boys finish the show as they announce they are hunting for some pacers for the wellness run, with details released on socials.

  • EP113: Wollongong Track Club : Interview with Mitch Ryan - CEO #WTCfroth / Runner

    This week on the Better with Running Podcast, the boys open the show with an update from chris talking us through the situation of the floods of Shepparton, as he has had a stressful week with his community and many of his friends and family affected, we hear about the state of his training grounds and the clubrooms.

    Zacca talks through some updates on his training including more progression with his body and a threshold session, before more name dropping on his long run.

    Mitch from the Wollongong Track Club, joins the boys for a chat about the latest happenings at the track club, he takes us through the origins of the club and previews an event that has just launched the GONG5000 – chapter 2, detailing the course layout, events on offer and reveals some cryptic clues about sponsor prizes. We also hear about his own running and an exclusive on his future race plans

    Zacca and Chris round out the show discussing some results abroad and then look towards the wellness run, and talk about the event, and how much they are looking forward to getting out and being involved with it once again.

  • EP112 - Erchana Murray Bartlett - TiptoToe 2022 - World Record Attempt 155 Marathons in a Row - Live Update from Queensland

    This week on the Better with Running Podcast, Chriso and Zacca talk through their training weeks.

    We hear an update from Chris as he returns off the back of Melbourne Marathon, and cops some heckles from his training group about his Baby Giraffe impressions, as he continues to allow his body to recover. He hits some regular paces again causing some mid run celebrations and we hear about the hunger coming back as he looks towards summer goals.

    Zacca continues progress with his Knee, with progression from the exercises and the help of his athlete/senior physiotherapist – James Telford, as he enjoys more freedom on the runs and less pain through day to day. He even takes some inspiration from Run Culture’s Dane Verwey with a morning dance routine to help with mobility. We hear about his session on the boulevard back to 5min reps with a change of pace element to it, and into a long run with a young buck in vapor flys!

    Chriso and Zac are joined once again by Erchana Murray Bartlett is running a marathon every day, making my way from the tip of mainland Australia (Cape York) to the toe (Melbourne) that’s 155 consecutive marathons for a total of 6,200kms to spread a very important message - Extinction is a CHOICE and she has partnered with the wilderness society to raise $62,000.

    We hear about her progress in far north Queensland, hitting the 2000km mark, running in a morph suit and how life is on the road knocking out a staggering marathon a day. The boys pepper some listener questions at Erchana and chat more about the impact she is having on the communities she is visiting and how the kindness of strangers along the way continues to buoy her as she continues this epic world record attempt.

    This week on the Better with Running Podcast, its Melbourne Marathon race recap edition!

    Soph Fitt joins the Chriso and Zacca to give an in-depth account of her day at Melbourne Marathon, we hear about how things didn’t go to plan but in an open and honest report, she outlines how the day unfolded and the learnings from the event.

    We hear from Chris with his pacing duties, and how emotional it was for him to share the day with his great mate Anna and play a  role in her achieving her goal.

    Both the boys reflect on the day and how proud as coaches they were with some of the performances and how much they loved the day.

    Zacca and Chris are joined by one of the #teamrun2pb athletes James Telford, to hear about his massive run on the weekend, we hear about his background in elite sports and physiotherapy and how that has shaped his training, and what he has learnt since becoming part of Run2PB and having a coach. James talks us through his day on the roads of Melbourne, including meeting friends along the way and the elation of cracking 3hrs . James is also the director and senior physio at physiolife, and will be a regular on the show covering topics of running injury and prevention.

  • EP110: Melbourne Marathon Week

    This week on the Better with Running Podcast, its Melbourne Marathon race week edition!

    In a training update, we hear from Chris about his taper week, as he puts the icing on the cake for his preparation, he openly talks through some struggles and doubts off the back of a session Zacca hits his biggest week since May, hitting 80k and with big improvements to his knee is starting to eye off races and enjoying resuming full training.

    Zacca and Chriso swoon over Kipchoge  and his WR run in the Berlin Marathon, talking through some of the insane paces. We also hear about some of the quirky characters of the day, including the famous bottle man and also pineapple man.

    We get an around the grounds on the #teamrun2pb athletes who towed the line at Berlin, including this weeks Run2PB hero of the Week – Edo, who managed to snag a huge 30+min PB along with getting an upgrade to the race hotel and snagging that famous viral photo with Kipchoge.

    This week on the Better With Running Podcast, once again Sophie Fitt, Marathoner and Run2PB coach joins

    Zacca and Chris to talk through her Melbourne Marathon build up, as we edge closer to race day we hear about sophs long run and final workouts, along with her taper and nutrition plans.

    Zac talks through the ongoing battle with his knee and the patience required to get results and momentum from his rehab program, he highlights a mini workout that surprisingly came out ok, but looks ahead to the changes he needs to make to get back moving forward with the help of his physio James Telford.

    Chris details his final big long run and sessions and reflects on whats been an amazing training block and marathon build with his great training partner Anna Gee and the excitement he has for race day and seeing the whole running community on the day.

    This weeks run2pb hero is announced, and its one of zacca’s athletes – Matty Morgan, who has overcome some obstacles of late with a return to running with a sacral injury but is now back and rolling including a podium on the trails.

    Chris and Zac introduce Run2PB’s 20th coach to the community, Guy Walters is based in Newcastle, NSW. We hear about his success as a junior and how he got linked up with Scott Westcott Australian Olympian and the impact he has had on his running both on and off the track, Guy talks us through his pbs and what he is is most proud of, before we dive into his own coaching philosophy and favourite sessions

  • EP108: Steve Langdon - Mentally Preparing for Race Day + Listener Question: What formulas & predictors for the marathon should we be using?

    This week on the Better With Running Podcast, Zacca and Chris provide an update on their training weeks.

    We hear about Chris hitting a big long run and clocking 81ks as he continues to build for the marathon, he talks about how he continues to enjoy the challenge and process of training for a marathon once again.

    Zacca reveals his new formal coaching setup, and how he is adapting to having sessions and runs set for him, before getting back on the boulevard for more choice words from cyclists and cars. His session of 5min reps is followed by a long run out at the flats with his athlete James Telford who successfully ticked off a strong long run whilst doing a physio consult in the process.

    Zacca’s training partner and MUAC member, Steve Langdon, joins the guys for chat about all things sports psychology and in particular focussing on practical tips leading into the Melbourne Marathon around the taper week, pre race day nerves, visualisation and race day mental strategies. Steve also answers some questions about dealing with missing goal races and bouncing back, and also provides some helpful tips for how you can engage with your support network, family and friends as you get closer to race day.

    Chris and Zac have a listener question from Rory Flanigan, Run2PB Athlete & Bendigo Bat  “Do you think Mona’s formula of double your half and add 7 minutes is a good way to calculate your goal?” The boys openly chat around the use of marathon predictions and formulas, they go into detail as to what they utilise and how they go about predicting goal times for the marathon.

    Zacca and Chris are joined by a special guest – Darren Templeton, Founder of the Run the Tan Showcase Event, we hear about Darrens running journey, his passion for starting this event and his why along with the plans for the event in 2023. Darren also invites listeners to his weekly run club, at the Tan, with a special guest  Olympian Eloise Wellings  and the chance to  joinScotty Orchard for a lap or two around the Tan Track. Scotty is taking on an incredible challenge - running 50 hours for his 50th birthday around the famous Tan Track and raising funds as part of Love Mercy to drill new water wells in northern Uganda.
