Since releasing a previous podcast episode about peptides, I've received a ton of questions about them, including:
-What's the best way to store peptides and for how long are they stable?
-What's the most updated anti-aging peptide stack?
-What's the best nootropic or cognition enhancing peptide formula?
-Can peptides be used to slow or stop hair loss?
-What's the unique peptide that stops gas and bloating in its tracks?
So on today's podcast I have two guests.
The first guest, Dr. William Seeds is a leading researcher and educator in the field of peptides. He is a Medical Doctor board certified in Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine. Anti Aging and Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Seeds provides this leading edge care at the world renowned Spire Institute, Olympic Training Center in Geneva, Ohio.
He has treated athletes from all over the world, helping them compete on the playing field and fulfill their dreams of winning gold metals. As a consultant for ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, he enables their dancers to stay competitive and recapture their careers after injury. Dr. Seeds is the Medical Director for the New Initiative of Regenerative Medicine at the NFL's Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio Dr. Seed's passion is bringing Peptide Medicine to the forefront as treatment of all major disease processes, traumatic injuries as well as Mental, Addiction and pain disorders.
As a researcher of peptide therapy protocols for over 25 years Dr. Seeds Founded and Chairs the International Peptide Society. The only Organization with Certification and Fellowship Training in Peptide Therapies. This academic medical society leads the forefront as the Authority in Peptide practices and is the leader in Education for Physician, and health care providers.
Mr. Jeremy Delk, my other guest, has been a successful entrepreneur for over a decade, with a keen eye for innovative new products, technologies and unexploited market niches. Mr. Delk utilized the financial acumen he learned in the financial sector with Fidelity Investments, while working in both Boston and NYC, to incorporate Delk Enterprises in 2002. With the growth of Delk Enterprises, Mr. Delk made the decision to move back to his native Kentucky focusing on the growth of his company, which includes the peptides arm Tailor Made Compounding.
Over time, Mr. Delk expanded Delk Enterprises from primarily a real estate holdings firm to a diversified private equity portfolio including equity holdings in animal health, sports medicine, human health care, pharmacy & creating access to future IP through strategic investments in technology and human health R&D initiatives. Today positively disrupting healthcare through portfolio companies and other strategic investments is where his primary focus lies.

Carnivore diet expert Dr. Paul Saladino was my guest on the show "The Truth About The Carnivore Diet: Everything You Need To Know About Dangers, Benefits, Mistakes & Hacks For Eating Only Meat."
And now he's back!
In this episode, we discuss my time at the Swiss Mountain Clinic, liver detoxes, European Biological Medicine, peptides, spirituality, hunting, survival, homemade pesto, BFR training, the carnivore diet (of course!) and much more.
Throughout the course of his life, Paul Saladino has embarked on many adventures that have shaped his personal interests – including his unique, individualized approach to medicine.
After studying chemistry at College of William he spent 6 years traveling and exploring. Highlights included a thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada, a summer in the New Zealand backcountry, and 2 years skiing and climbing in Wyoming's Teton Mountains. He returned to academic studies after these adventures, first becoming a physician assistant and practicing in cardiology before training at the University of Arizona, obtaining his M.D. in 2015.
He is a certified Functional Medicine practitioner (IFMCP) through the Institute for Functional Medicine and will complete his residency in psychiatry at the University of Washington this June. When he is not researching connections between nutritional biochemistry and chronic disease he can be found in the frigid waters of the pacific northwest in search of the perfect wave.

I consume a post-workout meal usually within 30 minutes of finishing my run, which is in line with what you've recommended in the past. But I think I may depart from your advice just a bit by including carbs in my morning meal. I've experimented with putting off carb consumption until the evening, and my energy levels throughout the day haven't been to my satisfaction. While my main focus is performance, I was hoping to hear your thoughts on what tradeoffs from a health and longevity standpoint I might be facing by introducing carbs early in the day. Do you have any thoughts on how I might modify my routine?

"Held Hostage. The FDA ruled last week that your own stem cells from your own fat are a drug and only they have jurisdiction over them. All stem cell treatments using your own cells in the USA now must be from bone marrow. Japan, Panama and many other progressive countries have moved in the opposite direction and have approved stem cells from your fat for their citizens due to the high safety and efficacy rate. This affects all of us. Big Pharma is now regulating your body. Legally."
My podcast guest on today's show, Dr. Tami Meraglia is a double board certified MD, who recently posted to a private Facebook group we are both part of the message above.
I found this post so disturbing that I invited her on my podcast to discuss the current state of stem cells and legality in the US and we take a deep dive on this show. Dr. Meraglia is the author of The Nationally Best Selling book The Hormone Secret and the CEO of Global Stemology and Seattle Stem Cell Center, the only Stem Cell Clinic in the Nation that provides complimentary hormone, nutrition and inflammation program to every stem cell patient.
She is keynote speaker for the American Academy of Anti-Aging and conferences in the US, Canada, Asia and Dubai. She has appeared on Good Morning America, Fox National News and has hosted multiple radio shows. After an illustrious career in the ballet, she discovered that she had a great talent for chemistry; combining that with her intense desire to make a difference and a career in medicine was launched.

A few months ago, I briefly mentioned on a podcast that I discovered that by taking a specific blend of nutrients to support my vagus nerve, I was able to completely get rid of morning constipation. Today, my podcast guest, Dr. Diana Driscoll, is the individual who actually designed that blend, and who knows a heckuva lot about the vagus nerve and its interplay with our bodies.
Dr. Diana Driscoll is an optometrist who had always been healthy - she was also a bit of an exercise fanatic who also geeked out with nutrition. But despite this history, she was struck down by an illness that few understood and was disabled for over a decade. Ultimately, she was diagnosed with something called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) - a disorder of the autonomic nervous system and was told there was no cure for this mysterious condition.
When her children also became ill and doctors had no answers, she formed Genetic Disease Investigators to formally study these conditions. Dr. Driscoll is considered to be “the patients researcher”, bypassing notoriously slow academic research institutions to get answers quickly.
Twelve years later, she is now the director of POTS Care – the only POTS Clinic focused on searching for the underlying cause of POTS, and treating it at its source. She has received two patents to date, and is now not only helping patients who are ill -- she is reaching out to healthy folks who want to improve their quality of life and maximize their health, even into old age. Dr. Driscoll graduated summa cum laude from both The University of Houston College of Optometry and The University of Texas at Austin. She is a geek, through and through.
She is a member of the International Society of Neurovascular Disease, the American Headache Society, the Medical Advisory Board for EDS Network C.A.R.E.S, the American Optometric Association, the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society, and served as a medical advisor for the Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation. Her peer-reviewed medical abstracts include those involving vascular abnormalities in the fundus of POTS patients, the etiology of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction, and the use of acetazolamide in multiple sclerosis.
She is the author of “The Driscoll Theory” and “Your Eyes and EDS”, and was the chief author of the “Ophthalmology Medical Resource Guide” for Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation.
Dr. Driscoll is the recipient of numerous awards for patient advocacy and continues to donate her time to help others across the globe through her online forum and videos on YouTube. Her work in chronic inflammation, the autonomic nervous system, collagen disorders, and organ dysfunction can help others live their best life, as well as have their best body and mind.

These days, traditional school, such as a public or private school, is only one of many options to get an education.
You've probably heard of homeschooling (I was personally homeschooled K-12).
But another method that isn't as well known is known as "unschooling" It's a method of education I've recently adopted for my boys using resources such as the book "Unschooling to University".
Many parents are frustrated by the school system, perhaps because of bullying, crowded classrooms, and outdated, dull, online courses. Disengaged learners that have no say in their coerced curriculum tend to act out, tune out, or drop out. Education must change and unschooling is the fastest growing alternative method of learning. T
wo decades ago, students registered with their local school based on their house address. Now, with the internet, students are borderless. Learning can occur anywhere, anytime, anyway and from anyone - including self-taught.
Self-directing their education, unschoolers learn through:
-Play
-Projects
-Reading
-Volunteering
-Games
-Sports
-Mentorship
-Travel
-Life
In this scenario, it's then the parents' job to provide an environment rich in resources: books, videos, cameras, computer and video games, workbooks, textbooks, projects, jobs, museums, field trips, volunteer programs, atlases and maps, science centers, zoos, museums, theaters, TV, toys, concerts, musical instruments, board games, mentor and apprenticeship programs, music, internet, libraries, instructors, living history parks, art galleries and supplies, sporting venues and equipment, science equipment, corporate venues, parks, travel, and many more.
In her book Unschooling to University, my guest on this podcast, Judy Arnall, explores the path of 30 unschooled children who self-directed all or part of their education and were accepted by universities, colleges and other postsecondary schools. Most have already graduated. She outlines that what children need most are close relationships - parents, teachers, siblings, relatives, coaches, and mentors within a wider community, not just within an institutional school.
Educational content is everywhere. Caring relationships are not. Families that embrace unschooling do not have to choose between a quality education and a relaxed, connected family lifestyle. They can have both. Judy is a keynote speaker and distinguished toastmaster who gives interactive presentations around the world.
She specializes in non-punitive parenting and education practices, and regularly appears on television interviews on CBC, CTV, and Global as well as publications including Chatelaine, Today's Parent, Canadian Living, Parents magazine, The Globe and Mail, Metro and Postmedia News. As a Certified Canadian Family Life Educator (CCFE), she teaches brain and child development, and family communication, at the University of Calgary, Continuing Education, and has taught for Alberta Health Services for 13 years.
She founded the non-profit organizations, Attachment Parenting Canada Association, and Unschooling Canada Association.
She is also the bestselling author of the following print and e-books:
-"Discipline Without Distress: 135 Tools for raising caring, responsible children without time-out, spanking, punishment or bribery." (Translated into 5 languages)
-"Plugged-In Parenting: Connecting with the digital generation for health, safety and love." (DVD)
-"The Last Word on Parenting Advice." (A lovely little journal)
-"Parenting With Patience: Turn frustration into connection with 3 easy steps." (Translated into 2 languages)
-"Attachment Parenting Tips Raising Toddlers to Teens."
-"Unschooling To University (and colleges): Relationships matter most in a world crammed with content."
As a parent of five children, who were raised without any kind of punishment, Judy has a broad understanding of the issues facing parents and the digital generation. She is the proud parent of several university graduates who self-directed their education.

Listener Q&A: How To Wake Up Less At Night...34:45Mike asks: Do you have any advice on improving the restfulness metric in the Oura app? I'm doing well with deep and REM sleep, but it says "pay attention" on restfulness. Do you have any thoughts on why that might be?

If such a relationship does exist, how could one tamper the effects cortisol has on detoxification and/or support detoxification better under periods of stress?
In my response, I recommend: -My article on breathwork -My podcast on 32 different ways to hack the vagus nerve -Thorne Iso-Phos -Inner Peace -Pulsecenters -Stephen Porges work on polyvagal theory -Autonomic Nervous System and the Liver Should You Eat Carbs & Fat Together In The Same Meal?...1:09:30Ben asks: So many people say that if you eat carbs alongside fat, you're going to store the fat because of the insulin response from the carbs. However, it seems pretty hard to never mix the two and a meal especially if you're doing strength training with some high intensity and you want to get those calories up. Like for example, when you posted that long article about your muscle mass gains protocol from a few months ago. There were things like extra virgin olive oil alongside tubers and things of that nature. That makes sense to me intuitively, but I was curious if I could get your take on if there's an upper limit on the amount of carbs that is safe to consume alongside fat if you are an active person.
In my response, I recommend: -Dietary patterns reflecting healthy food choices are associated with lower serum LPS activity -Endotoxemia is modulated by quantity and quality of dietary fat in older adults. It is the first comprehensive approach to aging that tackles why we age, and then recommends a strategic, scientific formulation to decelerate the process. The book brings practical information to everyday people, and takes the science of aging out of the laboratory and into the real world.
The first half of The Kaufmann Protocol discusses aging on a cellular level, which separates it from all other anti-aging fads. We age because our cells age and it is this understanding that allows the protocol to combat aging for people from all walks of life. This is presented in terms of the seven tenets, or categories, of aging which comprise topics such as DNA alterations, mitochondrial energy, and aging pathways.
These are explained in both scientific and laymen terms, such that anyone can understand the process. A series of analogies paralleling the cell to a factory assist the reader in following the logic. The second half of the book reviews the top fifteen molecular agents that curb the aging process. Each agent is examined, discussed and then rated in terms of the seven categories, thus granting it a Kaufmann Rating number.
This number is essentially a snapshot of its anti-aging properties, and allows the reader to create a regimen to fit their personal needs. Alternatively, the book suggests the most common protocol, the PANACEA, which is a combination of five molecular agents. This regimen is fantastic for most people over the age of 40, but it certainly is not comprehensive. With the tools and knowledge presented in this book, the reader can determine what is best for them as individuals.
This book is also meant to be a complimentary addition to the Kaufmann Protocol App which will allow the user to track their progress and stay up to date with all of the new scientific findings that will continue to make aging truly optional. Dr. Sandra Kaufmann began her academic career in the field of cellular biology, earning a Master’s Degree from the University of Connecticut in Tropical Ecology and Plant Physiology.
Turning to medicine, she received her medical Degree at the University of Maryland, and completed a residency and fellowship at Johns Hopkins in the field of pediatric anesthesiology. For the last seven years she has been the Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, a nationally recognized center of excellence. Her avid interest in the science of anti-aging begun many years ago as an intense hobby.
Utilizing her knowledge in cell biology, human pharmacology and physiology, this hobby has now become a main focus. The Kaufmann Protocol represents years of non-clinical research leading the first ever, comprehensive theory of aging, complete with an explanation of why we age and the tools to decelerate the process.
