- Copy number variation (CNV)

- Humans have two identical copies of the DNA code (from each parent)
- When testing for SNPs, the genetic paragraph is "read" and looks for variations between the two
- The more paragraphs you try to query simultaneously, the greater risk of error (false negatives/positives)

- Concern is for the physical manifestation of the genes, not the genes themselves
- Cellular function is key indicator
- Identify the genes that influence the desired outcome

- Should a person only have 1 copy of a gene, they will produce 50% less than someone with 2 copies

- Important to not exceed a healthy toxicity threshold
- Ben Greenfield does not have the GSTM1 gene at all
- Useless to discuss SNPs for that gene
- The M1 gene is a backup: it can be lost with less consequence than other genes (such as the T1)
- What this means is that Ben Greenfield has low to average glutathione detox capacity

"...Five months after beginning the amino acids, I achieved a personal best at Ironman Canada, in Penticton B.C. In my new and improved physical state, I began to wonder if my vegetarian, protein- deficient diet was the reason why the anti-cancer enzymes scorched my stomach. Could it be that the mucous lining in my stomach was inadequate, and that had also held back the healing of my hamstring? I very badly wanted to find out, so I decided to try the enzymes again. Thus begins the new book "The Search For The Perfect Protein", by 42 time Ironman triathlete Dr. David Minkoff. Dr. Minkoff graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1974 and was elected to the “Phi Beta Kappa” of medical schools, the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Fraternity for very high academic achievement. He then completed both a Pediatric Residency and Fellowship in Infectious Disease at the University of California at San Diego.
He worked at the University of California and Children's Hospitals in San Diego as an attending physician in infectious disease while conducting original research on Ribaviron, a broad spectrum anti-viral agent to fight disease. He also co-directed a neo-natal intensive care unit and worked in emergency medicine. In 1995, his wife became ill, and her physicians couldn't find what was wrong.
Not accepting their "no hope" conclusion, Dr. Minkoff went on a search to help her that led him out of emergency medicine into complementary and alternative medicine to find the answers. In the process he gained expertise in Biological medicine, heavy metal detoxification, anti-aging medicine, hormone replacement therapy, functional medicine, energy medicine, neural and prolotherapy, homeopathy and optimum nutrition. He studied under the masters in each of these disciplines until he became an expert in his own right. The answers he found were soon in demand when others learned of his wife’s return to good health.
In response to this, he and his wife, Sue Minkoff RN established Lifeworks Wellness Center in 1997 and it quickly became one of the most comprehensive complementary and alternative medicine clinics in the U.S. The demand for the products and protocols he discovered became a catalyst for founding BodyHealth.Com, a nutrition company that now manufactures and distributes these cutting-edge solutions for the many health problems today. - Minkoff gave Spencer amino acids to give to the riders during one of the races:
- After 21 days, athletes are broken down, even with optimal nutrition, medical care, etc.
- Athletes who used amino acids didn't break down; performance improved
- Athletes and coaches overwork and don't allow adequate recovery time; results in a broken immune system
- The amount of protein listed on the package doesn't translate to amounts in other sources (fish, steak, spirulina, etc.)
- Medication to stop stomach acid stops protein digestion
- Pepsin enzyme which digests protein requires a very acid stomach
- Cells have two pathways with which to deal with the amino acids:
- Anabolic: Turns amino acids into the proteins the cell is responsible for (hair, liver, muscle etc.)

His name is Robert Slovak.
Robert is a degreed Mechanical and Aeronautical & Astronautical engineer best known for co-founding Water Factory Systems in the early 1970’s. He and his brother were among the early developers of Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology and its many applications. Their successful innovations encompassed home and office RO drinking water systems, bottled water production, laboratory purification, hemodialysis, seawater desalination, microchip production, bottled water production, water vending, spot-free vehicle washing and scores more. As a result of the rapid growth of RO applications, Robert’s ongoing seminars and a best-selling industry book on the subject of POU (Point of Use) RO, he became a well-known figure in the water industry.
In 1989 Water Factory Systems was purchased by CUNO Inc, a global leader in fluid treatment. Since then, it was acquired by the 3M Corporation, which continues to market many of their original products. Robert officially retired from the US water industry in 1996 and went on to bring his knowledge and experience to Brazil, Asia and other international markets. He put together a team and published Agualatinomerica magazine to establish a legitimate water equipment and education infrastructure in Brazil and South America.
His “students” continue to play a major role in Brazil’s water industry. In 2004, while in a remote location of Brazil, Robert became seriously ill and was introduced to an obscure 1897 medical discovery known as Original Quinton Marine Plasma (after the famous revolutionary biologist René Quinton). Robert attributes his "jungle" survival to its remarkable healing properties. Recently, Robert’s 25-year interest in Deuterium Depleted Water (DDW) took a new direction forward. After IBM, he founded Applied Science Fiction (ASF), a digital imaging company where he served as Chairman and CEO, overseeing the development of over 150 patent applications and licensing its technology to nearly every major imaging OEM worldwide, including Nikon, Agfa, Minolta, and many others.

- Blood cells were separated manually; very laborious
- IBM funded this research and many other inventions that have benefited humanity

- Blood drawn from one arm; spun around in centrifuge; separates red, white, plasma (by gravity);
- Machine can draw whichever component you want (platelets, plasma, red cells, etc.)
- Blood is reinserted into the arm sans whichever component you want (ex. plasma) and new plasma is inserted via IV
- New plasma comes from various sources: actual plasma and purified plasma components
- Broke college kids donate plasma for gas money (creating a very large plasma pool)
- Water is taken out of the plasma; what's left is albumin, immunoglobulins, fibrinogen
- Similar to frozen lemonade (just add water)
- Was involved in several high-tech yet unfulfilling tasks; desired to do more for humanity
- Heterochronic parabiosis: the joining of two mice together, one old, one young

- Valid clinical evidence requires data
- How do you prove you've prevented something? By proving it existed in the first place
- Anecdotal data suggests the effects of plasmapheresis extends beyond the indication that is being treated
- Cast a wide net, gather as much data as possible (treat the whole elephant)
- What biomarkers are being tracked:
- Standardized patient care physical exams
- Muscle biopsies
- Muscle function
- Neurological/cognitive function
- Many more
- All tests done before the young blood transfer
- Not trying to cure; trying to prevent
- Don't test for telomeres because it's testing whole blood
- Each cell subset has different telomere lengths
- Wide disparity in test results
- Cells are aware of changes in environment, not calendar times
- The plasma that was withdrawn was rather putrid looking
- After 2-3 treatments (removing old plasma, injecting young plasma) the plasma condition normalized
- Getting rid of the old plasma really matters
- Decrease in whole blood viscosity
- Low shear viscosity: "stickiness" of the blood
- Digital biomarkers: Apple Watch, HRV, sleep cycles, etc.
