Is your brand identity strong?

Do you use the same colours or fonts on your website as your emails?  Or do you have a completely different looking Instagram look and feel to your actual physical store?

It is super important to have cohesion and consistency between all the design elements of your business.

Customers no longer only have 1 or 2  experiences or touchpoints with your business so it is crucial to make sure all the elements tie together and are consistent

Having a strong brand identity is crucial.  I chat today about the reasons why and in what aspects of your brand they should be showing up and remaining strong also. 

 From the cover of your reels (if you are doing reels if not you should be!!) to the colour of your tissue paper or tone of your emails it all matters!!

Start your product-based business the right way. 

Getting your foundations in place and know that you are on right track. 

Having a plan and action steps to work on is crucial to help you move forward.

 Knowing where to spend money and/or your time when you first start your business is one of the things is talk to with many many clients. 

 Now everyone starts from different places and with different $ dollars in the bank right?  I get that.  Some of you have been saving diligently from your corporate or full-time job or have been made redundant or lost their job due to covid.    Everyone is different.

What platform should I use for my website?   This is a question I see asked ALL the time.
 Now my answer is always Shopify if you are an eCommerce and product-based business.

Plans have been thrown into disarray again.   The last 18 months have bought a lot of uncertainty in so many ways.

Not being able to attend trade shows or exhibit at them has been another one!!

With the the latest August Melbourne shows being canceled buyers and brands need to get creatrive.

What can you do as a brand to make sure you stand out amongst the many other brands competing for the retailer's budgets.

I run through a few options in here and talk about what buyers should also be doing to plan for the months ahead.

Yep, you read that right Kaz has one regret in her business.  But it certainly has not stopped her and certainly has not stopped her from moving forward in what is now almost ten years on in the creative industry.  

I chat today with Mornington Peninsula artist, Karen Morton the maker behind ‘Kaz’. This Master of Fine Art graduate in painting and ceramics uses traditional techniques to create both functional and non-functional pieces. Inspired by the simplicity of everyday objects Karen invites us to take a closer look… Unexpected symbols, nostalgic linen, and wallpaper patterns feature in her ceramics. In her work, she seeks to explore and encapsulate the bewilderment of an undiscovered object or surface.

Karen likens the process of working in porcelain and resin to spending time with close friends, each material has its own personality. Porcelain is such a modest material to work with and the process is quite organic whilst resin is more controlled. Both processes share a common thread whether opening a kiln door or de-moulding a bangle there is always that element of surprise in seeing the piece for the first time.

Kaz  has one of those voices I think you could listen to for hours.  And lucky cos we clocked up an hour in this one today.  We hit stop at one stage and wrapped it up but then kept chatting and wanted to talk for longer so started recording again and extended for another twenty mins!!

I hope you enjoy our conversation and you would never know this was Kaz's first podcast either.  I have no doubt she will be getting calls to chat more.

I have been trying to get Karina on the podcast since I started it almost a year ago. 

Karina is a client of mine and I am so very honoured to welcome her to the podcast. 

Now she is not one to talk about herself too much or blow her own trumpet so to ask her to come on and chat about herself for an hour was a big ask I can tell you. 

She is very humble and very reluctant to even call herself an artist at times.

Do you Wholesale?  Or would you like to increase the revenue you get from Wholesale?  To do that you need more stockists right (or get the ones you have to buy more).

Most of the time what that means is getting more eyes on your brand and product so that the chance of picking up the right stores and the best stores is exponentially increased.

Today I dive into 5 ways to get in front of buyers more and get more eyes on your brand all without having to cold call and talk to stores.  I can tell you now most of the time no-one likes that the buyers or the person doing the calling!!

Incoming leads into your business and breaking down barriers so buyers come to you is super important.  I would love to hear how many of you are doing these things already and also from Retailers and if they agree with my top 5 ways listed here.

Gone are the days when you needed to post on your Instagram feed 3 times a day just to be seen (hello chronological feed 👋🏻).  Things have changed and you need to be changing too.

Now I know you don't want to be learning something new and I am the first to say stop chasing shiny objects (or squirrels as some like to say) but video and reels are here to stay.

If Instagram is where your audience hangs out and that is where their attention is  then you need to be there too and spend a bit of time getting your strategy right.

I dive into here what  your Instagram should look llike in 2021 and the importance of always evolving (and if that means learning reels then YES!!).
