Police in Pishan county, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, opened an investigation on Monday into a travel blogger who allegedly insulted martyrs and heroes by posing for photos in front of their tombstones.

周一，新疆维吾尔自治区皮山县公安局对一旅游博主展开调查，该博主在卫国戍边英雄墓碑前摆拍的行为亵渎了英雄烈士。

A post on China Police Online, the Ministry of Public Security's Weibo account, on Monday said the blogger's behavior was suspected of tarnishing the reputation and honor of heroes and martyrs.

公安部官方微博“中国警方在线”于周一发文称，该博主的行为涉嫌侵害英雄烈士名誉、荣誉罪。

Public security organs in Ngari prefecture in the Tibet autonomous region, where the blogger is currently staying, have urged him to go to the Pishan county public security bureau in Hotan prefecture as soon as possible to cooperate with the investigation.

博主目前所在的西藏自治区阿里地区的公安机关已经敦促他尽快到和田地区皮山县的公安局接受调查。

On Sunday, netizens on Weibo exposed a travel blogger posing for photos beside the tombstones of heroes who defended the country and protected its borders. The incident quickly went viral, with many netizens criticizing the blogger's behavior.

周日，网友在微博上曝光了一位旅游博主在戍边英雄墓碑旁摆拍的照片。这一事件在网络上迅速传开，许多网友批评了该博主的行为。

Judging by the photos, the incident took place at the Kangxiwa Martyrs Cemetery in Pishan county.

In one photo, the blogger is shown leaning against a gravestone with his feet on the pedestal. In another, he is leaning against the tombstone of Chen Xiangrong, who lost his life in a border clash with Indian troops in June last year, with one hand, and making what looks like a shooting gesture with the other. The photo caption read "respect".

On its Weibo account on Sunday, the Xinjiang regional procuratorate said it had noticed the incident, and added that "no matter what the intention, heroes and martyrs must not be treated with disrespect".

It said it had contacted the tourism department and suggested putting the blogger on a travel blacklist.

The travel blogger had a travel account on Chinese social media platform Toutiao News, and he was "permanently banned" by the platform on Sunday for posting a blog involving "misconduct that disrespects martyrs."

Local and military prosecutors rushed to the cemetery to demand the strengthening of management to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

The Pishan county procuratorate said later that the blogger's behavior was suspected of tarnishing the reputation and honor of heroes and martyrs, and urged the Pishan public security bureau to open a case.

In addition to the opening of a criminal case, authorities will pursue the blogger by means of civil public interest litigation.

The Chinese Olympic Committee announced on Wednesday it will send 431 athletes, 133 men and 298 women, to the Tokyo 2020 Games. The event starts on July 23 after a one-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A father whose search for his abducted boy was turned into a movie has been reunited with his son after 24 years, following a successful police campaign launched in January.

一位父亲苦苦寻找被拐卖儿子的故事被拍成了电影。今年一月公安部部署成功开展“团圆”行动之后，这位父亲终于在24年后与儿子团聚。

Guo Gangtang, 51, and his wife were reunited with their son Guo Xinzhen in Liaocheng, Shandong province, on Sunday. The Ministry of Public Security held a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday to release details of the case as well as photos of the reunion.

51岁的郭刚堂和他的妻子于周日在山东聊城与他们的儿子郭新振团聚。公安部于周二在北京召开了新闻发布会，公布了该案侦办细节以及团聚的照片。

When asked in a China Central Television interview how he would get along with his son's adoptive parents, Guo Gangtang said he would "just treat them as relatives". He added if Guo Xinzhen wanted to be filial to his adoptive parents, he would respect his son's decision.

Guo Xinzhen went missing in September 1997, at age 2 and a half, while he was playing near the family home in Liaocheng.

Police investigated his disappearance and collected blood samples from the parents, but there was no breakthrough in the case until this year. In January, the Ministry of Public Security launched operation Tuanyuan, meaning "reunion", to find missing children. A total of 3,000 free blood testing sites were established nationwide and nearly 10,000 people volunteered to have blood samples taken.

A male suspect and a female suspect have been taken into custody for questioning, police said on Tuesday. Through the information he provided, public security officers found more than 100 abducted children.

Beijing took multiple measures on Monday to cope with the heaviest rain to hit the capital this year.

The downpours, along with strong winds, started on Sunday night and are forecast to last until Tuesday morning. From 6 pm on Sunday to 7 pm on Monday, an average of 100.4 millimeters of rain fell across the capital, according to the city's meteorological bureau.

By 5 am on Monday, 57 water pumping stations had drained 140,000 cubic meters of water.

The National Meteorological Center renewed on Sunday its orange alert, the second-highest of the four-tier system, for rainstorms across the country. In China's four-tier weather warning system, red represents the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.

The number of giant pandas in the wild in China has reached more than 1,800 and their status has been upgraded from "endangered" to "vulnerable," the Chinese government said on Wednesday.
