This week, we get to learn a little more about D’s world as we chat with Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner Mai Mckeon about everything from education to beauty standards to various procedures in the aesthetic field. She shares what first drew her to the aesthetic field and the value of having a mentor to learn from. They discuss the lack of advanced education and guidance in the field, what they wish they would have known going into it, and Mai’s go-to resources for learning new tips and tricks. They also dive into how beauty standards fit into their practice as well as their fears surrounding that, including honoring people’s natural beauty and saying no when they’re not comfortable doing something unrealistic. Mai also offers advice for taking the step into the aesthetic world, in addition to some quick skin tips for people not quite ready to walk into an office!
