For too long, we've lived in a society where there is silence and secrecy around sex, sexuality and sexual abuse. It’s time (well actually, long overdue) for us to end the silence so we can end the shame and stigma.
In today’s episode, I talk about about the challenges and benefits of having these conversations, some of the issues that might come up around it, and why we need more open, honest conversations (even the awkward ones) to finally end the shame so many survivors carry.
I'll share how that deep-rooted shame and stigma impacts everything from our survivor experience; difficulty in sexual relationships; parents struggling with how to talk to their children around these issues; and people questioning their desires as they age.
No matter what generation you’re from, this conversation is for you.
The more we get comfortable getting uncomfortable and vulnerable, the more we can change toxic societal expectations and even change the incidence of future sexual abuse.
Join the conversation. Share anything that came to mind as you watched. Maybe consider sharing this episode if you’d like to join the movement to end the shame we’ve carried far too long.
