I didn't even want to join Beachbody (now BODi) at first, because I didn't believe it would work AND on some level, I thought I was "too good" for it.
Boy, was I wrong.
The fitness and nutrition program literally changed my LIFE. And I talk about that part ALL the time. But let's move on to the business, shall we?

I wanted to record this episode with Dr Sylvia K because I struggle (as do many of us) with comparing ourselves to others on social media.
So how can we enjoy social media without beating ourselves up for not being as successful/thin/happy/grounded etc as people we follow and admire???
Comparison isn't always bad...it can be used as a tool to take accountability. We have the power to see someone else's success and recognize that we have that same ability in us to be that successful.
It's all about self awareness and observation, baby!
So let's stop scrolling and looking for problems...let's scroll and admire and be inspired.
At the same time- it's important to recognize when your body is being HARMED by comparison...if you're FEELING negative sh$t going on in your body...stop scrolling. It's not serving you right now.
There is a way that you can scroll on social media and not allow the comparison game to take over...
So when you're finding yourself comparing your life to others' ....try these three steps:
1. Validate your current situation. Validate your feelings and your thoughts.
2. Find one statement that provides HOPE.
3. Imagine what your future self would say to you in this moment?

When I tell you that this conversation had me on the edge of my seat, it is NOT an understatement.

Hope you're ready to feel inspired because this story will tug at your heart.
SaraMae was typical fitness-focused girl, a runner, actually, until she survived an unimaginable change.
Ten years ago, SaraMae was preparing for marathon, sprinting up stadium stairs , when she noticed that something didn't feel right. She tried to ignore her pain for days, but eventually, she ended up at the ER. 24 hours later, she was in and out of consciousness...and everything went black. Literally. She was rushed back to hospital and discovered that her organs were failing. She was put in a medically induced coma and her family was told to say their goodbyes.
She was in the medically induced coma for two weeks, which was a horrific event for her. She was suffering from septic shock and MERSA, which resulted in needing both of her legs amputated.
And that's when everything changed..
SaraMae had a choice how she would respond to such a horrific event.
SaraMae had several battles that she had to fight: physically, mentally and emotionally.

My weight loss story is unique in that I never struggled with weight until I started taking Lexapro. But when I started Lexapro, my body puffed up and I gained 15 lbs. I was SO much happier on the Lexapro, and I clearly needed it, but the weight gain made me SO unhappy that I actually WENT OFF of the medication.
BIG MISTAKE. HUGE. (name the movie!)
But seriously, I stopped taking the Lexapro and I completely crumbled...to the point where my husband had to sit me down and tell me that I basically had no choice but to get back on the drug and just deal with the side effects.
So what I did instead of just "dealing" was I started the workout and nutrition program offered through BODi (formally Beachbody). I FINALLY learned how to eat right for MY specific body, and I learned to LOVE moving my body everyday. I lost the 15 lbs.

But what about gaining a life??
Well, I discovered that there was a business opportunity with the company and I slowly began to work with BODi as a partner. I educated other moms just like me who needed and deserved the support. My business grew over 7 years to eventually becoming a top earner (6 Figures).
