As a mom and a dietitian, this topic is near to my heart.
*I want to bring awareness to this topic so we can teach our kids how to eat intuitively and stop stressing about all those diet culture food rules. Our kids are sponges and they hear us talking, so let's flip the script and show them how to eat to fuel our body, say positive things about body, and be a role model for them.
They hear us talking about what we say about food/diet.
They hear us talking about what we say about our bodies.
They hear you say, "I need to go on a diet to lose weight!"
They hear you say, "I need to cut out all carbs and sugar in my diet."
ALL foods fit in the diet
A "good" food doesn't mean you're a better person.
A "bad" food doesn't mean you're a bad person.
This connection is made by kids when we put labels on certain foods.
*A child is more likely to get diagnosed with an eating disorder, rather than diabetes.
