Dr Nighat is a GP specialising in women’s health with over 15 experience in the NHS and private practice. Having been nominated for the National Bevan Prize for Health & Wellbeing for her commitment to advancing wellbeing in her community (Dr Nighat also practices in Urdu and Punjabi), she is one of the most inspiring GPs in her field.
Dr Nighat is also a resident doctor on BBC Breakfast and has contributed to the Channel 4 documentary “Davina McCall: Sex, Lies and the Menopause” as well as the likes of Good Housekeeping, Stylist and British Vogue.
On this episode of The Pieces, Bimini and Dr Nighat talk about the importance of diversity and inclusivity in medicine, medical misogyny and racism and the historical of neglect of women’s health in research.
Dr Nighat also shares her personal experiences and insights from her career - touching on the impact of cultural backgrounds on health perceptions and the importance of mutual respect in medicine.
